This document describes an apparatus for providing an advance indication of channels available for use by a mobile device travelling along a geographic path. The path extends across two or more cells, with each cell defining a particular set of radio channels available for use by the mobile device in that cell. The apparatus is configured to receive predicted geographic path signalling associated with prediction of the geographic path to be taken by the mobile device. The apparatus is also configured to determine radio channels available for use by the mobile device along that path. The apparatus is also configured to provide, in advance, an indication of the radio channels available for use by the mobile device along the geographic path in each respective cell along the path.

Apparatus and associated methods for determining available channels based on predicted movement

Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing augmented reality client application content to be enabled for one or more nodes. A method may include specifying a bounded area of a mesh network and associating content with the bounded area. The method may additionally include causing, at least in part, a peer-to-peer transmission of the content to one or more nodes within the bounded area over the mesh network. Corresponding apparatuses are also provided.

Method and apparatus for ad-hoc peer-to-peer augmented reality environment

The present invention relates to a method and system for providing information about stations of a communication system, and more particularly information of stations () that are located within a defined area (). A search can be triggered in a location information service for information concerning wireless stations within the defined area. At least one such access entity () of the communication system is selected that covers partially or entirely the defined area. A location information request is subsequently generated and broadcast in the selected access entities. A response including information concerning wireless stations within the defined area is generated and signalled to the location information service. According to another aspect the system is adapted to provide services for those stations only that have been determined to be located within the defined area.

Service provision in a communication system

Sequence numbers for data packets to be transmitted using bearers having bearer identifiers in a communications system are generated, wherein the sequence numbers are generated independently for each of the bearers used for transmitting the data packets. Last generated sequence numbers for each of the bearers identifiers are stored and held in a memory. When a sequence number for a data packet to be transmitted using a bearer out of the bearers which has been used before is to be generated the memory is checked on a last generated sequence number for the bearer with a previously used bearer identifier and the sequence number is generated in accordance therewith.

Sequence number synchronization for ciphering

The present invention relates to provision of a location service. The location service is arranged to receive geographical location information associated with a user equipment of the communication system. In the method geographical location information associated with the user equipment is stored at a first location register of the communication system and processed in a predefined manner. A check is made whether geographical location information has or has not been transported from the first location register to a second location register. If the Information has not been transported, the processed geographical location information is transported from the first location register to the second location register.

Providing location information of a user equipment

In order to enable a home network operator to also control the issuing of certificates to a roaming subscriber, first information indicating whether or not it is allowed to issue a certificate to the subscriber is maintained in the subscription information. The first information is checked in response to a subscriber's certificate request received from the subscriber and the certificate is generated and delivered to the subscriber only if certificate issuance is allowed.

Controlling delivery of certificates in a mobile communication system

The present invention relates to estimation of the distance between stations that communicate in a communication system over a radio interface. In the system at least one of the stations transmits signal bursts in time slots in accordance with a timing structure and at least one station receives the signal bursts. The method comprises determination of a first timing of a signal burst received at the receiving station, the first timing being associated with the first component of the received signal burst that meets a predefined condition. A second timing of the received signal burst is also determined for use in adjustment of internal timing of the receiving station for receiving and/or transmitting further signal bursts from and/or to the transmitting station. A timing offset is also determined between the stations. The distance between the stations is estimated based on the timing offset and the first timing of the received signal burst.

Distance estimation in a communication system

A cellular radio network based positioning system for determining the position of a mobile station (). For each base transceiver station (to) or cell of the network, a fixed list of base transceiver stations is stored by a Mobile Positioning Centre (). Each list identifies those base transceiver stations which enable the position of a mobile station served by the corresponding base transceiver station () to be optimally determined. The list is transmitted to the mobile station () via the serving base transceiver station () and the mobile station determines an observed time difference for each of the listed base transceiver stations, relative to the serving base transceiver station (), from signals broadcast by the listed base transceiver stations. The observed time differences are transmitted from the mobile station () to the serving base transceiver station () and are used by the network to compute the position of the mobile station ().

Cellular radio locator system

A calculating method and a radio system comprising a set of emitters and a set of receivers and a measuring mechanism, which measure the time difference between the reception moments of signals transmitted by the transmitters while the receiver is receiving signals, and which calculate the geometrical time difference of the signals transmitted by the transmitters. The radio system includes a calculating mechanism, which forms the real time difference between the transmission moments of the signals transmitted by the transmitters as a function of time by of measuring the time difference of the signals transmitted by the transmitters as a function of time by of measuring the time difference of the signals received by the receiver and by of the geometrical time difference.

Calculation method in a radio system for calculating the geometrical time difference between transmitters

The invention relates to a method for determining transmission times of signals transmitted by at least one radio transmitter BTS. In order to enhance the accuracy and reliability of estimates of transmission times or of changes of the transmission time of signals transmitted by radio transmitters BTS, it is proposed that a difference in the time level of estimates of the transmission times based on the measurement results of two different radio receivers LMU A,B is taken into account in a filtering of the estimates for obtaining an accurate value for the transmission times. It is further proposed that the changes of the transmission times estimated at different receivers LMU A,B is averaged for obtaining an accurate information about the changes. The invention equally relates to a corresponding radio communications system and to a processing unit for such a system.

Methods for determining times and changes of times of transmission, radio communications system and processor

The invention relates to a method of transmitting a synchronized channel in a radio transmitter and to a radio transmitter. The method comprises transmitting normal radio bursts on a normal channel asynchronously. In the invention, synchronized timing is obtained, synchronized radio bursts (SB) are formed, and a synchronized radio burst is transmitted in the place of a normal radio burst (NB). The length of the synchronized radio burst (SB) is at most half of the length of the normal radio burst (NB). The transmission of the synchronized radio burst (SB) is in synchronization with the obtained synchronized timing.

Method of transmitting synchronized channel in radio transmitter

A cellular radio network based positioning system for determining the position of a mobile station ( ). For each base transceiver station ( to ) or cell of the network, a fixed list of base transceiver stations is stored by a Mobile Positioning Centre ( ). Each list identifies those base transceiver stations which enable the position of a mobile station served by the corresponding base transceiver station ( ) to be optimally determined. The list is transmitted to the mobile station ( ) via the serving base transceiver station ( ) together with a list of respective real time differences which exist between the serving base transceiver stations and the listed base transceiver stations. The mobile station determines an observed time difference for each of the listed base transceiver stations, relative to the serving base transceiver station ( ), from signals broadcast by the listed base transceiver stations. The mobile station listens for synchronization sequences contained in these signals during time windows defined by the various real time differences. The observed time differences are transmitted from the mobile station ( ) to the serving base transceiver station ( ) and are used by the network to compute the position of the mobile station ( ).

Cellular radio synchronization

A method and system for estimating the location of a mobile station in a telecommunications network having a reference base station and a plurality of neighboring base stations. At the beginning of the E-OTD measurement, the mobile station may be provided with the expected OTD values in the reference base station site, possibly instead of RTD values of the neighboring base stations, to make it possible for the mobile station to calculate the uncertainty in the measured OTD due to its unknown location. Alternatively, the network provides the mobile station the expected OTD values in its current location, and the estimated uncertainty of those values. When the uncertainty is greater than a predetermined value, the mobile station makes E-OTD measurements based on the SCH burst. Otherwise, the mobile station makes measurements based on normal/dummy bursts, and/or aligns the time window for taking samples from signals received from neighboring base stations.

Method and system for locating a mobile terminal in a cellular radio network

There are proposed a method for determining timing differences between a plurality of radio transmitters (BTS) and a radio network incorporating the method. Timing information of signals received by measuring means from said plurality of radio transmitters (BTS) is determined. The timing differences between said plurality of radio transmitters (BTS) are determined on the basis of said timing information determined by said measuring means and the respective distance differences between said plurality of radio transmitters (BTS) and said measuring means. This method can be advantageously applied to locating mobile stations in a mobile radio network.
