Apparatus comprising a first antenna configured to receive alignment signalling from a first transmitter over a first communication channel, the first communication channel having a first set of characteristics, and a second antenna configured to exchange data w.th a second transmitter over a second communication channel, the second communication channel having a second different set of characteristics. The apparatus also comprising a processor configured to process the alignment signalling received from the first antenna and determine the location of the second transmitter relative to the apparatus; and generate control signalling representative of the determined location of the second transmitter relative to the apparatus. The apparatus further comprising a user interface configured to provide a user with an indication of the relative location of the second transmitter relative to the apparatus in accordance with the control signalling to allow for the second antenna to be aligned for data exchange with the second transmitter.

Apparatus and method for antenna alignment

In one or more embodiments described herein, there is provided an apparatus that is configured to determine respective signal strengths of radio frequency identification signalling received from multiple sources by a directional antenna. The apparatus is also configured to discriminate the radio frequency identification signalling from a particular source based on the particular signal strength of the radio frequency identification signalling received from that source.

Method and apparatus for discrimination of RFID tags

In one or more embodiments described herein, there is provided an apparatus configured for use with one or more directional antennas. The one or more directional antennas each have a respective directional axis, a first sensitivity region being proximal to the directional axis and associated with a first variation in sensitivity across the first region, and a second sensitivity region being distal to the directional axis and associated with a second variation in sensitivity across the second region. The second variation in sensitivity is greater than the first variation in sensitivity. The apparatus is configured to discriminate one source of radio frequency identification signalling at a particular angular position from other neighboring sources of radio frequency identification signalling by using the alignment of one or more second sensitivity regions with respect to the particular angular position.
