The present disclosure relates to a composite material comprising glass fiber and a polymer blend comprising polylactic acid (PLA) and polybutylene succinate (PBS), wherein the composite material comprises about 10 wt-% to about 80 wt-% of glass fibre, and wherein the polymer blend comprises about 20 wt-% to about 60 wt-% of PLA and about 40 wt-% to about 80 wt-% of PBS. The disclosure also relates to an article comprising the reinforced composite material.

Reinforced biodegradable composite material

The present application provides an orthopedic implant or a part thereof, comprising biodegradable magnesium alloy comprising magnesium and Ca in the range of 0.550-0.700 wt %, Zn in the range of 0.400-0.700 wt %, and Fe 50 ppm or less, the biodegradable magnesium alloy consisting of two phases comprising a first phase comprising magnesium and Zn and a second phase less noble than the first phase, the second phase comprising MgCa precipitates larger than nano-sized. The present application also provides a method for preparing the biodegradable magnesium alloy, a method for preparing the orthopedic implant or the part thereof, and a method for treating a subject in need of therapy for a medical condition of a bone.

Implant comprising magnesium alloy and a method for preparing thereof

The present invention provides an orthopedic implant comprising a continuous reinforced composite filament in a freely predetermined fiber orientation in multiple continuous successive layers, wherein the continuous reinforced composite filament comprises a bioabsorbable polymer matrix and a continuous bioabsorbable reinforcing fiber or fiber bundle, and whereby the continuous bioabsorbable reinforcing fiber or fiber bundle of consecutive layers at least partly intermingles and/or intertwines forming a three dimensionally interlocked continuous fiber structure.

Orthopedic bioabsorbable implants

Biocompatible and resorbable melt derived glass compositions which include: SiO60-70 weight-%, NaO 5-20 weight-%, CaO 5-25 weight-%, MgO 0-10 weight-%, PO0.5-3.0 weight-%, BO0-15 weight-%, AlO0-5 weight-%, and which contain less than 0.05 weight-% potassium. Biocompatible and resorbable glass fibers manufactured from these glass compositions, medical devices containing fibers of the invention, the use of these compositions for the manufacture of glass fiber and the use of the fibers for the manufacture of medical devices are also disclosed.

Resorbable and biocompatible fibre glass compositions and their uses

A composite material including biocompatible and bioresorbable glass, a biocompatible and bioresorbable matrix polymer and a coupling agent capable of forming covalent bonds. The composite also includes a compatibilizer, where at least 10% of the structural units of the compatibilizer are identical to the structural units of the matrix polymer, and the molecular weight of the compatibilizer is less than 30000 g/mol. The use of this composite, a medical device which includes the composite and a method for preparing the composite are also disclosed.

Biocompatible composite and its use

The present invention relates to an implantable paste comprising bioactive glass spheres having a size distribution of 50-425 &#x3bc;m, low molecular weight polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight range of 200-700 g/mol, medium molecular weight polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight range of 700-2500 g/mol and high molecular weight polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight range of 2500-8000 g/mol, with the proviso that the molecular weight of the low molecular weight polyethylene glycol and of the medium molecular weight polyethylene glycol differ from each other by at least 80 g/mol and that the molecular weight of the medium molecular weight polyethylene glycol and of the high molecular weight polyethylene glycol differ from each other by at least 300 g/mol.
