There are provided measures for enabling/realizing higher-layer beam management, e.g., beam failure detection or beam candidate detection in a higher layer such as a MAC entity. Such measures exemplarily comprise that a beam management timer is started when a (first) beam management instance indication from a lower layer is obtained, beam management is executed, wherein a beam management instance counter is incremented whenever a beam management instance indication from the lower layer is obtained and a beam management event is detected when the beam management instance counter reaches a beam management instance threshold before expiry of the beam management timer, and the beam management instance counter is reset upon expiry of the beam management timer.

Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose devices, methods and apparatuses of coherent joint transmission. A terminal device may receive a QCL source configuration from a network device. The QCL source configuration may indicate at least two transmission configuration indication (TCI) states that indicate reference signals from valid QCL sources for a coherent joint transmission (CJT) of tracking reference signals (TRSs). The terminal device may perform a QCL property estimation on received TRSs based on the QCL source configuration.

A method is provided that includes determining that at least two channel state information (CSI) reports are to be reported. The method includes calculating priority values associated with the at least two CSI reports, at least one of the priority values calculated based on a determination that at least one of the at least two CSI reports is a lower-layered triggered mobility (LTM) CSI report. Example embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for handling expiry of at least one time alignment timer (TAT) of multiple timing advance groups (TAGs) associated with a serving cell. In an example method, the terminal device receives determines at least two TAGs for a serving cell, wherein the at least two TAGs comprise a primary TAG and a secondary TAG. The terminal device determines whether at least one TAT of the at least two TAGs has expired and maintain, based on determining that the at least one TAT has expired, one of the primary TAG and the secondary TAG. In this way, only a single TAG is maintained once the terminal device has single TAT/no TAT running removing ambiguities in RA procedure/UL signal transmissions. Since the network is aware of the TAT expiry, it knows behaviour of the terminal device and can act accordingly.
