The present invention relates to a method and system for establishing a connection to a terminal device, wherein a user capability information defining supported types of information streams is set in a compatibility information element within an outband signaling message, and a capability negotiation is performed by transmitting said outband signaling message via an outband control channel. The code or user capability information may be set at the terminal device or at an intermediate network element based on a subscriber profile information obtained from a subscriber database. Thereby, the user capability, such as a multimedia session composition, can be already negotiated or handled during the outband call setup phase, and a corresponding inband negotiation can be avoided.

Method and system for establishing a multimedia connection by negotiating capability in an outband control channel

The present invention relates to a method and system for modifying at least one connection parameter of a circuit switched terminal device, wherein the at least one connection parameter can be modified at a called terminal by a corresponding input operation after the receipt of a setup signaling message. The connection parameter is incorporated in an answer signaling message to be transmitted in response to the setup message, and compared with a negotiated connection parameter. Based on the comparison result, a parameter modification is initiated. Thereby, a discreet and fast slip from an offered to a wanted service can be offered at little message traffic.

Method and system for modifying a connection parameter

A telecommunications system comprising an arrangement for controlling a multicall over a transmission path between a telecommunications network and a subscriber terminal. A multicall may have three different bearer configurations: each call of the multicall has a dedicated bearer, or one bearer is shared by all calls of the multicall, or the multicall has both dedicated and shared bearers. When a shared bearer is used, a user can have several independent calls in parallel, which have to alternate in using the bearer, or in some situations, use it simultaneously. The network is arranged to set up any new call in an existing multicall, according to a criterion, either by (i) setting up said new call on a new bearer, or (ii) setting up said new call on an existing bearer so that said existing bearer is shared by at least two calls.

Control of a multicall in a telecommunications system

A method for a communication system that includes a first node, a second node and a third node. In the method a connection is established between the first node and the second node based on predefined parameters. Handover of the connection is initiated so that the connection may continue between the first node and the third node. A default value is used for at least one connection parameter required for said connection between the first node and the third node. If it is determined as necessary, the value of said at least one parameter is then modified after the connection has been established.

A method for managing multiple, independent, simultaneous calls between a mobile communications network and a subscriber terminal. For each subscriber terminal there is a first upper limit which is related to the capacity of its radio interface. Calls are limited to a number which does not result in exceeding the first upper limit. There is also, for the number of simultaneous calls, at least one second upper limit which is not lower than zero. The actual number of simultaneous calls between the network and the subscriber terminal is monitored. A new call to/from the subscriber terminal is allowed only if the actual number of simultaneous calls is less than the at least one second upper limit. Preferably, there is a separate second upper limit for each subscriber and for each of several call types, such as voice, data and fax calls.

Implementing simultaneous calls in a telecommunications network

The invention is directed to a method for management of bearers in cellular telecommunication systems in such a situation, when the demand of services is greater than the capacity of the network to provide such services. According to the invention, a set of priority values is associated with each bearer. Preferably, the set of priority values comprises an absolute priority value, which is the same for all bearers associated with a certain USIM, and a relative priority value, which defines the priority order of the bearers associated with a certain USIM. The network uses these priority values to determine, which bearer is dropped, when not enough resources are available.

Method and an arrangement for management of bearers

Optimization of the usage of radio resources in mobile telecommunication systems, particularly during the call set up stage, is accomplished by using a bearer allocation method, which allows late allocation of resources without increasing the risk of not obtaining the desired resources. This is realized using a two-phase bearer allocation mechanism, in which the bearer is only reserved early in the call set up process, and allocated later, when the called party answers or the transmission can otherwise be observed to begin.
