A novel small format touch screen user interface for displaying, adding and editing program setpoints is described. When editing a setpoint the user's input is constrained such that the user can only alter one parameter. As soon as the user begins to drag a setpoint icon in either a horizontal (e.g. adjusting time), or vertical (e.g. adjusting temperature), the other parameter is constrained. Additionally, the disclosed user interface includes displaying information as to how the setpoint was most recently added or adjusted. For example the display can be used to indicate whether a setpoint was added or adjusted on the control device itself; by an automated learning algorithm; by a user on a web client; by a user using a mobile device, and so forth. Further, the name of the particular device may be displayed.

User interfaces for schedule display and modification on smartphone or other space-limited touchscreen device

In a method for detection of an anomaly related to information about a location of a mobile computing device, the anomaly related to the information about the location of the mobile computing device can be detected by a processor of the mobile computing device. A communication about the anomaly can be provided via a user interface of the mobile computing device. The anomaly can be caused by a bug in an operating system of the mobile computing device. Notifications about the anomaly can be provided to a user of the mobile computing device or other mobile computing devices registered to a shared account.

Systems and methods are described for attributing a primary causative agent for HVAC system usage being above or below an average, the HVAC system being controlled by a self-programming network-connected thermostat. The displayed information can include indications of the manner in which one or more setpoints was created or last modified. Various arrangements for hazard detector event tracking is presented. A system may include a hazard detector and a computer server system. Indications of events that occurred at the hazard detector may be provided to and stored by a computer server system. A user interface application executed on a mobile device may receive the indications of events that occurred at the hazard detector. A timeline may be generated that graphically represents the indications of events. The generated timeline may be output for presentation via a display of the mobile device.

The information is made on a remote display device such as a smartphone, tablet computer or other computer, and includes a graphical daily or monthly summary each of several days or months respectively. A controller is provided for coordinated control of various subsystems, such as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) subsystem, a camera subsystem, and a security subsystem, in a structure such as a home, by allowing automatic as well as manual changes to be made to the subsystems within their respective constraints. The controller may change the states or settings of the subsystems automatically upon occurrences of certain conditions, or allow the user to change them by switching a structure mode for the subsystems between a home mode and an away mode. A change in the structure mode may effect changes to some or all of the states or settings for some or all of the subsystems.

Various arrangements are presented for controlling a night light feature of a hazard detector. A user interface application executed on a mobile device may output, a graphical interface that provides an option to enable a night light feature of the hazard detector. The application may transmit data indicative of the night light feature being enabled and of an associated user account to a computer server system. The computer server system may receive and store data indicative of the night light feature being enabled and of the user account. The hazard detector may receive from the computer server system data indicative of the night light feature of the hazard detector being enabled by the application. The hazard detector may enable the plurality of LEDs to provide illumination in response to the received data indicative of the night light feature of the hazard detector being enabled by the application.

A method may receive, in response to a first event, a first sensor data from a first sensor, and receive, in response to the first event, a second sensor data from a second sensor. The method may select, from among a plurality of event profiles, a first event profile. The first event profile may comprise a first condition matching the first sensor data, a second condition matching the second sensor data, and a plurality of conditions which, when met, indicate the occurrence of the first event. Conditions may include a sensor data, a time period, a user data, a sequence of conditions, or a combination of such data. The first event profile may comprise a first event notice to be provided in response to the occurrence of the first event. The method may provide the first event notice to a recipient indicated by the event profile.

Method and system for consolidating events across sensors

A home management system comprises a controller configured to determine that a status of a particular mobile device registered with the home management controller is of concern; transmit to the particular mobile device a request notification to enable the registered mobile device to determine a device location in the background; receive a location notification from the particular mobile device in response to the request notification; and based on the received location notification, determine the status of the particular mobile device.

Systems and methods of security are provided, including at least one of a plurality of sensors to detect a location of at least one user, and generate detection data according to the detected location of the at least one user. A processor may be communicatively coupled to the at least one of the plurality of sensors to receive the detection data and to determine whether the at least one user is occupying a building according to the detection data. An alarm device, communicatively coupled to the processor, can be armed or disarmed by the processor according to the determination as to whether the at least one user is occupying the building.

Systems and methods of automated arming and disarming of a security system

System for displaying hazard events and adjusting hazard detector settings on a mobile device includes a user interface executed on the mobile device, a hazard detector, and a computer server system communicatively coupled to the mobile device and hazard detector. The hazard detector generates hazard events indicating detection of smoke or carbon monoxide. The hazard events are transmitted to the computer server system and then to the mobile device. User interface displays the hazard events in an event group. User interface receives an adjusted value for a setting of the hazard detector and transmits the adjusted value to the computer server system. The computer server system determines that the adjusted value corresponds to the hazard detector, receives a check-in event from the hazard detector, and transmits the adjusted value to the hazard detector in response to receiving the check-in event. The hazard detector applies the adjusted value to the setting.

Mobile user interface for event notifications arising from smart-home hazard detection devices

A system including a thermostat user interface for a network-connected thermostat is described. The system includes a thermostat including a frustum-shaped shell body having a circular cross-section and a circular rotatable ring, which is user rotatable for adjusting a setting of the thermostat. The system further includes a client application that is operable on a touch-screen device separate from the thermostat, that displays a graphical representation of a circular dial, that detects a user-input motion proximate the graphical representation, that determines a user-selected setpoint temperature value based on the user-input motion, that displays a numerical representation of the user-selected setpoint temperature value, and that wirelessly transmits to the thermostat data representative of the user-selected setpoint temperature.
