When a communication session is established, display information is sent to a first window of a communication application. The first window of the communication application displays current status information for the live communication session. For example, the first window may include a mute status (e.g., that the call is currently muted by the user) and call time. When the display of the communication application is switched to a second window that covers the first window, display information for a call dart is sent that displays current status information for the first live communication session over a portion of the second window. For example, the call dart may be a small thumbnail or banner that allows the user to view the current status of the live communication session, such as the mute status of the live communication session and the current duration of the live communication session.

System and method for call management in single window communication endpoints

Mechanisms are provided herein which accommodate the handling of multiple service errors on a service exception handling display. In particular, when a single and/or multiple service errors are present, a user interface of the communication device can provide a dynamic exceptions view for simple management and control of the one or more service errors received. An enhanced communication bridge includes a context interface that enables the audio bridge to learn information about the type of Voice encoder, device, network connection, location, type of call (business vs. personal), identity and position of the individual, and other information about the context of the communication session itself as well as the context of each person joining the communication session. This context information is used to determine how quality of experience targets for the communication as a whole, as well as how each individual contribution should be uniquely processed to attempt to meet the quality of experience targets. Business factors may influence the decision as to the type of processing to be implemented on each of the signals provided by the participants. Corrective action may also be implemented by the bridge on the client network devices as well in the embodiment. The bridge may be centralized or distributed. A video bridge may be implemented as well.

The present invention controls delivery of television content to conserve network resources based on whether the television content is being viewed on a television monitor. A television gateway may monitor a viewer's interactions with the television gateway to determine whether the television content is being viewed at the associated television monitor, or detect whether the television monitor is on or off. Upon determining that the viewer is not viewing the television content, various actions can be taken to conserve network resources.

A system, module and method is provided for metadata extraction and re-insertion. A module has a first input for receiving a compressed digital media stream having metadata such as DPI cues or content related information contained therein and an output for providing a first control signal including metadata information to an encoder. The metadata is extracted from the digital media stream by the module and generates a control signal including the metadata. The encoder module re-encodes the digital media contained in the digital media stream and re-inserts the metadata.
