Infusion pump system and associated methods The invention provides a fluid delivery system (), comprising: an outlet tube (); a pump () for pumping liquid along a fluid path () including the outlet tube; a closed sensing tube () branched from the fluid path which, in use, is filled with gas; and a sensor () configured to sense movement of a liquid front within the sensing tube and, responsive to sensing of said movement, determine that a partial or total occlusion has occurred within the outlet tube.

Infusion pump system

A fluid delivery system () includes a reservoir () for storing a fluid, a pumping chamber () and an actuator (). The pumping chamber () has a volume, an inlet valve () providing selective fluid communication between the pumping chamber volume and the reservoir, an outlet valve (), and a membrane () the displacement of which changes the pumping chamber volume. The actuator () moves a drive member () in reciprocating motion. The actuator () is disposed in a housing () having an aperture () from which the drive member projects. The reservoir () and the pumping chamber () are arranged in a cartridge () removably attachable to the housing. When the cartridge () is attached to the housing () the drive member () is operatively coupled to the pumping chamber membrane (). The fluid delivery system may be applied to an infusion system for the infusion of a liquid therapeutic product, such as insulin.

Fluid delivery system

The present invention proposes assigning a common system identification code to each of a control unit and a plurality of controllable slave units, storing that system identification code in a user-inaccessible memory of those units, and allowing pairing between the control unit and each of the slave units only if the system identification code of the control unit matches that of the respective slave unit. Thus a slave unit can only act upon a control signal if the control signal comes from the control master unit which shares the system identification code, i.e. is verifiably from the same family. This ensures that a slave unit only acts on instructions which come from a specified control unit, so providing security to the user. It is therefore impossible for a slave unit to act on instructions from any device other than the control master unit with which it shares a system identification code, which may be alternatively referred to as a family identification code or family ID.
