Systems and methods for the relative phase measurement and alignment of 66B encoded signals include receiving a plurality of 66B encoded signals each comprising sync headers which are periodically converted, determining a phase of each of the plurality of 66B encoded signals based on the periodically converted sync headers, and aligning the phase of each of the plurality of 66B encoded signals based on the determining. The periodically converted sync headers can include changing one of a first bit and a second bit of the sync header. A period of the periodically converted sync header can be set at twice a phase difference which is compensated at an egress point of the plurality of 66B encoded signals.

Systems and methods for relative phase measurement and alignment of 66B encoded signals

An Optical Transport Network (OTN) method, an OTN switching node method, and an OTN node utilize a 'double wrapper' configuration to eliminate clock transients in OTN networks. That is, the systems and methods bury an ODU beneath another overclocked ODU thereby eliminating any interruptions due to clock transients, framing events or other disruptions. For example, an ODU2 can be mapped into an ODU2e, an ODU3 can be mapped into an ODU3e2, an ODU4 can be mapped into an ODUG or some other overclocked variant of ODU4, and the like. Specifically, ODU2e, ODU3e2, ODUG, etc. are overclocked variants of ODU2, ODU3, ODU4, etc. The systems and methods propose to use these overclocked signals to carry standard ODU signals to eliminate clock transient problems.

Optical transport network clock transient suppression systems and methods

Optical Transport Network (OTN) High Order (HO) mapping systems and methods utilize pointer processing to map one HO signal into another similarly sized HO signal. An OTN HO mapping method and circuit include receiving a first HO signal at a first rate, asynchronously mapping the first HO signal into a second HO signal at a second rate, wherein the first rate and the second rate are substantially similar, translating a portion of overhead from the first HO signal to overhead of the second HO signal, utilizing pointers in the overhead of the second HO signal for frame alignment of the first HO signal, and transmitting the second HO signal containing the first HO signal.
