Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. A method for facilitating network identification is provided. The method at an access node of a first network, comprises: detecting a physical-layer-related identity of each of one or more neighboring access nodes; decoding, for each of the one or more neighboring access nodes, a network identity of the neighboring access node; for each of the one or more neighboring access nodes: determining whether the neighboring access node belongs to the first network or a different network; and determining an identity group in which the detected physical-layer-related identity of the neighboring access node is included; and selecting, as a physical-layer-related identity of the access node, a physical-layer-related identity from an identity group other than any identity group in which a physical-layer-related identity of a neighboring access node belonging to a different network is included.

Method for facilitating network identification, access node, method for network identification and user equipment

An interference-based metric is used for control purposes in a cellular network, e.g., for controlling association of a user equipment to a cell of the cellular network. The metric is defined as a ratio of a first value and a second value. The first value represents the strength of a reference signal (RS) transmitted by a base station of the cell as measured by the user equipment. The second value represents the strength of interference (IF) at the user equipment. Depending on the metric, a radio access configuration for the user equipment and the cell is controlled. This may for example involve association of the user equipment to the cell, e.g., in the course of a handover process or idle mode cell selection process.

Control of cellular network operation using interference-based metric

A method () for facilitating network identification is provided. The method comprises, at an access node of a first network: detecting (S) a physical-layer-related identity of each of one or more neighboring access nodes; decoding (S), for each of the one or more neighboring access nodes, a network identity of the neighboring access node; for each of the one or more neighboring access nodes: determining (S) whether the neighboring access node belongs to the first network or a different network; and determining (S) an identity group in which the detected physical-layer-related identity of the neighboring access node is included; and selecting (S), as a physical-layer-related identity of the access node, a physical-layer-related identity from an identity group other than any identity group in which a physical-layer-related identity of a neighboring access node belonging to a different network is included.

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for coordinating resources between different operating networks. The method comprises determining whether coordination with a second operating network is triggered and transmitting a coordination request to the second operating network, in response to determining that the coordination is triggered. The method also comprises receiving a coordination response from the second operating network. The method further comprises determining blanking patterns by initiating a coordination procedure between the first and second operating networks to, in response to receiving an acknowledgement in the coordination response from the second operating network; and scheduling according to one of the determined blanking patterns in the first operating network.

Method and apparatus for coordinating resources between different networks

Controlling utilization of a plurality of frequency channels in a cellular network by a node by using a channel selection algorithm which is based on an initial channel allocation and two consecutive sequences of channel allocation processes. The concepts described may be used for efficiently controlling utilization of a plurality of frequency channels in a cellular network. In particular, due to the consecutive search loops, an optimized allocation of frequency channels to a plurality of access nodes can be obtained in an automated manner, without requiring excessive measurements or trial of allocations.
