Methods, devices and a system for disease management are provided that employ diagnostic testing devices (e.g., blood glucose meters) and medication delivery devices (e.g., insulin delivery devices) for providing data to a repository in real-time and automatically. Repository data can be analyzed to determine such information as actual test strip use, patient health parameters to outside prescribed ranges, testing and medication delivery compliance, patient profiles or stakeholders to receive promotional items or incentives, and so on. Connected meters and medication delivery devices and repository data analysis are also employed to associate a diagnostic test to a mealtime based on timing of a therapeutic intervention performed by an individual.

A system and method for automatically integrating data with guidelines to generate displays containing the guidelines and data. The automated system and method can integrate patient data with treatment guidelines to assist a healthcare provider, such as a physician or the like, in providing treatment to the patient. The system and method employ a data storage component, adapted to store guideline data representing guidelines for assessing a condition of an entity, guidelines for taking action on the entity, or both, and to store feature data representing at least one feature of the entity. The system and method further employ an output device, adapted to output at least one diagram representing the guideline data, with the diagram including at least one component representing a relationship of at least a portion of the feature data to at least a portion of the guideline data.

System and method for integrating data with guidelines to generate displays containing the guidelines and data

A system and method are provided for applying guidelines to data and providing self-assessment ability. Guideline data is stored in a data storage component, along with user data. The user data represents both quantitative data and qualitative self-assessment data. In a self-assessment system and method, a graphical user interface is provided along with a target image and factor icons. The icons are adapted to be moved onto a position on the target image representative of an entity's self assessment of performance relative to the corresponding factor. A subset of actionable alternatives are selected and displayed based on the self-assessment data and the guidelines.

An electronic thermometer for measuring body temperature has a temperature sensor for detecting a sensed temperature and for producing an output indicative of the sensed temperature and a temperature rise detector for detecting whether the sensed temperature is rising. If the sensed temperature is rising, the temperature rise detector produces a temperature rise signal. The thermometer is provided with circuitry for generating an audible signal in response to the temperature rise signal. The device thus audibly indicates that the sensed temperature is rising and that the temperature measurement is proceeding normally. The temperature sensor includes a thermosensitive oscillator, the oscillating frequency of which changes depending on a change in its temperature, and a reference oscillator for generating a reference signal. A temperature counter counts an output signal from the thermosensitive oscillator on the basis of the reference signal. A data hold unit holds a maximum value of data on the measured signals in the temperature counter. A comparator compares data in the data hold unit and the new data in the temperature counter to thereby rewrite the data in the data hold unit with the new measured data in accordance with the result of the comparison by the comparator. The temperature rise detector detects whether the measured temperature is rising in accordance with the result of the comparison by the comparator. A temperature rise detection signal from the temperature rise detection device drives a sound generator to inform that the measured temperature is rising.

A reusable compress for cold therapy includes a flexible pack containing a gel wherein the pack and the gel are capable of remaining flexible to a low temperature of about -18.degree. C. The pack includes a patient contact portion for conforming to variations in surface contour of the patient's body. This patient contact portion includes an inner plastic layer, having a thickness of up to about 3.0 mils, in contact with the gel and an outer patient contacting fabric layer laminated to the plastic layer. The combined strength of the laminated structure is sufficient to contain the gel during normal use.

A bandage for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprises an elastic material for wrapping around a portion of a user's body. A refrigeratable pack includes a tab extending therefrom. The refrigeratable pack is removably held on said elastic material during use so that the tab is accessible for grasping by the user.
