A method for producing a cutting tool, in particular a drill bit, is specified wherein the cutting tool has a front end (F) at the front and a rear end (R) toward the rear, wherein a tool tip is formed on the front end (F), a point thinning is ground at the tool tip with a grinding tool, the point thinning being ground to be narrower toward the front than toward the rear. The point thinning is ground with a constant point thinning angle (AW). Furthermore, a corresponding cutting tool is specified.

The invention relates to a method for producing a blank, in particular a blank for the production of a cutting tool, wherein a green body extending in the direction of the extrusion axis is produced from extrusion material by means of an extruder which has an extrusion channel extending along an extrusion axis; wherein the extrusion channel together with a movable mold element forms a die of the extruder; and wherein the mold element is moved relative to the extrusion channel and within said extrusion channel during the extrusion of the green body, whereby the shaping geometry of the die is changed so that the completely extruded green body hereby has a first functional segment and a second functional segment adjacent thereto in the direction of the extrusion axis (); wherein the two functional segments differ with regard to their geometries impressed by the die.

Method for producing a blank from extrusion material, and extruder

A method for producing a replaceable cutting head is described. The replaceable cutting head is manufactured by extruding a blank. During extrusion of the blank, a number of helical coolant channels and a number of helical flutes are simultaneously formed. After extrusion, the flutes have a first angle of twist (D), and the coolant channels have a second angle of twist (D). After extrusion, the blank is sintered and then reworked to selectively adjust the first angle of twist (D) and the pitch of the flutes. The method produces an endless blank that is capable of being parted off to a desired length without any sacrificial allowance, which provides significant material and cost savings as compared to conventional methods.

Method for producing a cutting head

The drill comprises a base body, which extends in the axial direction along an axis of rotation and rotates about the axis of rotation in a direction of rotation during operation. Into the base body are incorporated flutes and between consecutive flutes is formed a rear surface, which extends, in relation to the direction of rotation, from a leading flute to a trailing flute. On the rear surface in the region of the leading flute, a guide chamfer and a support chamfer spaced apart from it in the direction opposite the direction of rotation are formed, wherein the support chamfer, as radially outermost region, forms a support edge for a merely linear support.

The invention relates to a rotary tool, in particular a drill (), which extends along a longitudinal axis (), having an end face (); a center (); at least two main cutting edges (), each of which extends from the center () outwards towards a cutting corner (); a flute () associated with each main cutting edge (), a flank on the end face (), associated with each main cutting edge (); a rake angle (&#x3b3;) between the respective main cutting edge () and the flute (); a ground face () which forms a point thinning () in the area of the center (), extends into a radially outer area and defines the rake angle (&#x3b3;) in the area of the main cutting edge (). The rotary tool is characterized in that the rake angle (&#x3b3;) formed by the ground face () is constant along the main cutting edge (), and the flank () of the other main cutting edge () is formed by the ground face (). An advantageous, excellent cutting behavior is thereby achieved along the main cutting edge (). The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing the rotary tool, which is then especially simple to produce.

Rotary tool and method for manufacturing a rotary tool

A rotary tool designed as a modular drill, extending in an axial direction along an axis of rotation. It comprises two coupling parts: a carrier; and a cutting head that is attached to the carrier so as to be exchangeable. The carrier includes pin receiving means, into which a coupling pin of the cutting head is introduced in a clamping manner and so as to be reversibly exchangeable. The pin receiving means and the coupling pin have torque sections and clamping sections that correspond to one another and are oriented parallel to the axis of rotation. In addition, to prevent axial pull-out, stop surfaces are provided on the pin receiving means and on the coupling pin, the stop surfaces being effective in an axial direction and corresponding to one another. These stop surfaces preferably extend horizontally and therefore perpendicular to the axis of rotation.

Rotary tool, in particular a drill, and a cutting head for said rotary tool

The modular carrier tool (), in particular drilling tool, extends along a central longitudinal axis () in axial direction () and comprises a carrier () as well as a tool head () that can be reversibly mounted on the front-end of the carrier (). The carrier () has a head retainer () for the insertion of the tool head () as well as clamping webs (), which radially delimit the head retainer () and also have bearing surfaces (). The tool head () comprises clamping surfaces () extending in axial direction as well as underhead bearing surfaces (). In a mounted state the clamping webs () clamp the tool head () in radial direction to the clamping surfaces () and the underhead bearing surfaces () are pressed against the bearing surfaces (). In order to generate a force component (K) acting in radial direction unto the clamping webs (), the bearing surfaces () as well as the underhead bearing surfaces () are tilted in radial direction towards the central longitudinal axis () by a tilt angle &#x3b1;. This particularly supports the radially exerted clamping force of the elastic clamping webs ().

Modular carrier tool and tool head

The invention relates to a rotary tool (), in particular a drill, having a cutting part () that extends in a longitudinal direction () from a clamping shank () arranged in a rearward region () to a tool front () arranged in a forward region (), and in which helically running chip flutes () and continuously helically running coolant channels () are fashioned, such that an exit opening () of each coolant channel () is arranged in the respective chip flute (), wherein the chip flutes () are each shaped with an angle of twist (&#x3b1;) varying in the longitudinal direction () such that, in the forward region () facing towards the tool front (), the respective coolant channel () is intersected by the respective chip flute () so as to fashion the exit opening ().
