An aircraft air conditioning system comprising an air conditioning unit adapted and configured to be supplied with compressed process air and to generate cold fresh air, a mixer adapted and configured to mix the cold fresh air from the air conditioning unit with recirculation air recirculated from an aircraft region to be air conditioned, an air outlet adapted and configured to direct mixed air from the mixer into the aircraft region, a first sensor adapted and configured to detect an actual temperature in the aircraft region, a second sensor adapted and configured to detect a temperature of the mixed air directed into the aircraft region, and a control unit adapted and configured to control an operation of the air conditioning unit in dependence on a difference between the temperature of the mixed air directed into the aircraft region and the actual temperature in the aircraft region.

Aircraft air conditioning system with a reduced process air demand

An aircraft air conditioning system comprising an ambient air supply line with a first end connected to an ambient air inlet and a second end connected to a mixing chamber. A first electrically driven ambient air compressor in the ambient air supply line compresses the ambient air flowing therethrough. A first ambient air branch line branches off from the ambient air supply line upstream of the first ambient air compressor and rejoins the supply line downstream of the air compressor. A second ambient air compressor in the first ambient air branch line compresses the ambient air flowing therethrough. A cabin exhaust air line has a first end connected to an air conditioned aircraft area. A cabin exhaust air turbine in the exhaust air line is driven by the exhaust air flowing through the cabin exhaust air line and is coupled to drive the second ambient air compressor.

Aircraft air conditioning system with an electrically driven ambient air compressor and method for operating such an aircraft air conditioning system

A technique for performing thermal analysis of an electronics rack is disclosed. In one embodiment, the electronics rack having multiple heat generating components is modeled. Further, thermal boundary conditions for each of the heat generating components are computed, by a computation fluid dynamics tool (CFD) tool, based on an initial temperature and a heat flux corresponding to each of the heat generating components in a first cycle, upon modeling the electronics rack. Furthermore, an actual temperature of each of the heat generating components is determined, by a one dimensional (1D) tool, using the computed thermal boundary conditions for estimating heat dissipated by each of the heat generating components in the first cycle.
