An illumination arrangement of a passenger cabin for a passenger aircraft contains a control line with a connected lamp arrangement and operating unit having operating elements for selecting light scenarios of the lamp arrangement by transmitting dedicated control signals of the operating elements from the operating unit to the lamp arrangement via the control line, the lamp arrangement has a first decoder for allocating a sequence of control signals to a prescribed one of the light scenarios, the first decoder has a decoding instruction in a menu structure, the selection of menu elements of the menu structure is effected by the control signals, the illumination arrangement contains an add-on display which is connected to the control line, the add-on display contains a second decoder with the same decoding instruction, according to which a respectively received control signal is assigned a graphic representation of the menu element that is in each case currently selected by the control signals, the graphic representation which is in each case currently recognized is displayed on the add-on display.

A method for avoiding physiological phenomena such as color separation or stroboscopic effects that occur under boundary conditions in the case of intermittent feeding in particular of light-emitting diodes, for additive superposition to form color-locus-variable mixed light, whereby the emission brightness that can be represented by a periodic duty ratio of a pulse-time-modulated constant current feeding&#x2014;preferably within the respective period&#x2014;is realized by changeover to other or between different constant current intensities in such a way that a brightness equivalent, namely once again the current-time integral of the predetermined, brightness-determining duty ratio, arises in the current area sum, which now preferably no longer exhibits gaps over the period.

Method for generating mixed light colors

In order to avoid firstly decidedly periodic loading of an output-buffered constant current power supply unit () and secondly physiological loading as a result of only intermittently appearing primary colors (R, G, B) when activating mixed light color loci, primary color light sources (R,G,B) are energized in pulse-width-modulated fashion periodically in a temporally offset manner, but in addition in each instance, in time-parallel fashion with respect thereto, also those primary color light sources of further primary color light sources (R,G,B) whose primary colors in the cyclic activation are not being energized at that time are likewise energized in a pulse-width-modulated manner (FIG.). If, in addition, white light light sources (W) are intended to be used, they are expediently in each case energized simultaneously with one of the primary color light sources (R,G,B) and the other two of these primary color light sources, on the other hand, are energized in a temporally offset manner simultaneously in pairs.
