A method for manufacturing a transdermal drug delivery device (10) is disclosed wherein a component (32) and/or a subassembly (20) are intentionally adapted to be separable from the rest of the device for disposal which is more medically or environmentally acceptable. In one embodiment, device 10 comprises upper and lower housings (16, 20), with lower housing (20) being separable from upper housing (16) and foldable upon itself to minimize medically unacceptable contact with, e.g., a drug reservoir (26 or 28) contained therein. A device (10) made in accordance with the invention is included.

A tape dispenser having a polymeric frame with a cutter support portion having a cutting edge along one end, opposite side wall portions attached along opposite side edges of the cutter support portion, opposed hub portions projecting toward each other from the side wall portions that are adapted to project into opposite ends of an opening through a tape core to rotatably support the roll of tape, and locating tab portions projecting toward each other from the side wall portions. The locating tab portions have arcuate retaining surfaces adjacent and spaced from the support portion, and have opposed cam surfaces extending from the side wall portions to the inner ends of the locating tab portions that consistently cause tape being pulled from the roll of tape on the side of the tab portions opposite the retaining surfaces to be guided around the locating tab portions when the tape is cut, whereupon the newly cut end portion of the tape will releasably adhere to the retaining surfaces to retain that end portion in a position projecting from the roll at which it can easily be manually engaged to afford withdrawing another length of tape from the roll.

A system for interlocking a plurality of modules, such as medical instrument modules (e.g., infusion pumps), in side-by-side relationship such that not more than one module can be mounted on each side of a center module. The modules are interchangeable in that any module of the system can be a center module or a side module. In the preferred embodiment, latching arms on a module are automatically moved as the module is mounted on a pole stand to allow other 'side' modules to be mounted on that 'center' module. The latching arms of the 'side' modules prevent additional modules from being mounted on the side modules. Other embodiments are described as well.
