A furan-containing compound of formula (I): Ar is aryl, heteroaryl, or oligoaryl; A is furyl; B is aryl or heteroaryl; Ris hydrogen, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, cyclyl, heterocyclyl, or oligoaryl; and Ris hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, cyclyl, or heterocyclyl. The compound is useful as a hole transporting material in an organic light emitting diode device.

Furan-containing hole transporting materials

The present invention relates to a method for treating a disease, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a fullerene. The diseases treated comprise bacterial and viral diseases such as those cause by Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, Dengue 2 virus and viral encephalitis. The fullerene is administered in vivo in an amount of about 0.001 to about 100 mg/kg of body weight of the subject.

Fullerene pharmaceutical compositions for preventing or treating disorders

A method of treating neurotoxic injury, where the injury is the result of the release of oxygen-derived free radicals, is disclosed. The method utilizes carboxyfullerenes as free radicals scavengers to reduce the damage caused by the free radicals.
