A loading system for use with a haul vehicle and a loading machine configured to load material onto the haul vehicle is disclosed. The loading system has an identification tag located on the haul vehicle, an identification tag reader configured to recognize the identification tag, and a transmitter configured to deliver a first signal including information related to the identification tag. The loading system also has a transceiver configured to receive the first signal and deliver a second signal including loading information to the loading machine to initiate loading of the haul vehicle.

System for managing loading operations of haul vehicles

A method and apparatus for controlling the oscillatory motion of a test device by using amplitude and DC offset feedback for control purposes. The force applied to the test device is monitored by a load sensor and compared to a preset desired amplitude load setpoint to determine the positive peak amplitude of a sinusoidal control signal. The DC offset feedback is monitored by sampling the value of a displacement feedback signal a number of times for each cycle of movement. The values of the samples are averaged to determine a calculated DC offset. The calculated DC offset is compared to a desired DC offset, which is determined from a preset desired displacement setpoint. The difference between the calculated DC offset and the desired DC offset is then used to control the load applied to the test device to maintain the desired oscillatory movement.

Method and apparatus for controlling the oscillatory motion of a test

A system is disclosed that performs a plurality of measurements based on a set of preprogrammed instructions. The system includes a central processing unit (CPU) that has an internal primary and expansion bus. The internal primary bus includes a program memory and the internal expansion bus includes an I/O memory. The set of preprogrammed instructions resides in the program memory and defines a predetermined type of measurement. A standard bus couples the internal primary bus to one or more standard external devices, while a custom bus couples the internal expansion bus to one or more custom external devices. The custom bus includes an analog bus that provides for analog signal transmission to one or more custom external devices. At least one of the custom external devices receives a test signal, conditions the test signal and delivers data representing the conditioned test signal to the I/O memory. The CPU receives the test data from the I/O memory, computes a measurement value based on the preprogrammed set of instructions and responsively produces measurement data having a magnitude representing the computed value.

System for performing a plurality of measurements

An apparatus for measuring torsional vibrations of rotating machinery is provided. A wheel having a plurality of spaced apart teeth is connected to the rotating machinery. A sensor detects the speed of wheel rotation and responsively produces a speed signal that has a frequency proportional to the rotational wheel speed. A timing device receives the speed signal, determines the period of the most recent pulse of the speed signal, and responsively produces an instantaneous period signal that has a value representative of the determined period. A microprocessor receives the instantaneous period signal, determines an instantaneous speed value of the rotating wheel and an average speed value of the rotating wheel based on previous wheel rotations. The microprocessor further produces an instantaneous torsional velocity signal that has a value equal to the difference of the average speed value and the instantaneous speed value, and an instantaneous torsional displacement signal in response to numerically integrating the torsional velocity signal value. Finally, an output device receives the instantaneous torsional signals and displays the representative values.

Apparatus for measuring torsional vibrations of rotating machinery

In one aspect of the present invention, an apparatus for analyzing a plurality of events of an internal combustion engine is provided. A crankshaft sensor monitors the rotational position of the crankshaft and responsively produces a crankshaft pulsetrain. A cylinder pressure sensor senses the pressure produced in the engine cylinder and responsively produces a cylinder pressure signal. A memory device stores previously calculated values representing engine cylinder volumes at predetermined crankshaft positions. A microprocessor determines the start of combustion for an occurring engine cycle in response to a cylinder pressure signal magnitude, P.sub.2, at a current crankshaft position being equal or greater than the relationship:
