A cooling fan housing is provided. The cooling fan housing includes an inner housing and an outer housing. The inner housing includes inner forward and inner rearward flanges on either side of an inner annulus. The inner rearward flange includes a recessed portion proximate to the inner annulus and a non-recessed portion remote from the inner annulus. The outer housing includes outer forward and outer rearward flanges on either side of an outer annulus. The outer and inner forward flanges are attachable in a tight-fitting condition. The outer rearward flange and the non-recessed portion of the inner rearward flange are attachable in a tight-fitting condition with the recessed portion of the inner rearward flange forming a gap with the outer rearward flange.

A stator vane is provided and includes an airfoil section, a banana foot section including a radially outermost surface and a fillet. The fillet is radially interposed between the radially outermost surface of the banana foot section and the airfoil section. Respective outermost peripheries of the fillet and the radially outermost surface of the banana foot section define first and second footprints, respectively, in corresponding axial and circumferential dimensions. At least a section of the second footprint extends beyond a corresponding section of the first footprint in at least one of the corresponding axial and circumferential dimensions.

A seal for an aircraft engine includes an annular body receivable in interference fit in a radial spacing defined between inner and outer cylindrical components of the aircraft engine, the annular body defining a central axis coaxial with the inner and outer cylindrical components, the annular body including an inner portion defining an inner diameter, an outer portion defining an outer diameter, and an intermediate portion extending between the inner and outer portions. The outer portion is slidably engageable to the outer cylindrical component at an outer contact sealing portion of the annular body. One of the inner portion and the outer portion defines at least one cut extending from the one of the inner portion and the outer portion toward another one of the inner portion and the outer portion. A method for sealing a radial spacing between coaxial cylindrical components in an aircraft engine is also described.

Seal for an aircraft engine

A centrifugal compressor of an aircraft engine includes an impeller and a shroud extending circumferentially around the impeller. A bellmouth disposed upstream of the impeller extends circumferentially and includes: a conduit section extending from a first end to an upstream-most location of the bellmouth, the first end of the conduit section secured to the shroud, and a peripheral section extending from the upstream-most location to a second end located radially outwardly of the first end, the peripheral section located radially outwardly of the conduit section and axially overlapping the conduit section. A stiffening member is located on the peripheral section of the bellmouth proximate the second end. The stiffening member extends circumferentially and provides the bellmouth with a dynamic vibration mode outside a range of dynamic vibration modes of the aircraft engine during operation.

A support plate for an engine casing includes an anti-rotation rib abutting an outer flange wall of the casing and a misalignment tab extending radially outwardly from the anti-rotation rib. The support plate has a support plate hole configured to be aligned with one flange hole of a flange of the casing.

A centrifugal compressor, has: an impeller; and a housing including: a shroud extending between a first end and a second end; a structural member having an outer end securable to a casing of the gas turbine engine, an inner end of the structural member intersecting the rear side of the shroud; and a reinforced region at the location where the structural member and the rear side of the shroud intersect, a thickness of the reinforced region in a direction normal to the gaspath side greater than a nominal thickness of the shroud, the reinforced region defining a curved surface extending from a first location on the structural member to a second location on the rear side of the shroud, a portion of the curved surface having a radius that increases from a first radius to a second radius at the second location.

An orifice pack is provided for delivering pressurized air to a compressor bleed valve of a gas turbine engine. The orifice pack has a diffusion chamber in serial flow communication with a tapering passage and a first outlet passage for venting a first portion of the pressurized air from the diffusion chamber. A second outlet passage branches off from the diffusion chamber at an axial location between the inlet and the tapering passage. The second outlet passage is fluidly connected to the compressor bleed valve for directing a second portion of the pressurized air from the diffusion chamber to the compressor bleed valve.

A variable guide vane (VGV) assembly, has: vanes distributed about a central axis, each of the vanes having an airfoil extending between first and second stems, the vanes rotatable about vane axes extending between the first and second stems; and a bushing ring supporting the first stems of the vanes, the bushing ring defining circumferentially distributed pockets receiving the first stems of the vanes, the bushing ring having a first ring body extending circumferentially around the central axis, a second ring body extending circumferentially around the central axis and removably secured to the first ring body, the second ring body defining at least one tab projecting axially to axially overlap at least a portion of the first ring body and defining a contact plane therebetween, and at least one locking member extending radially through the contact plane to removably secure the first ring body and the second ring body together.

The gas turbine engine can have a pneumatic actuator; an intake device secured to a gas path wall delimiting the gas path, the intake device having a tubular body protruding from the gas path wall into the gas path and an inlet aperture formed in the tubular body, the inlet aperture spaced-apart from the gas path wall and facing downstream relative a flow orientation of the gas path, the intake device having an internal conduit extending from the inlet aperture, along the tubular body, to an outlet across the gas path wall; and a fluid line fluidly connecting the outlet of the intake device to the pneumatic actuator.

A vane configured to be disposed in a gas path defined in part by an inner surface of a case of a gas turbine engine is provided. The vane comprises a vane body configured to extend through an aperture in the case and a vane head disposed at an end of the vane body. The vane head has an abutting surface configured to contact an outer surface of the case when the vane body extends through the aperture, and a groove configured to receive a sealing member. The groove opens to the abutting surface and is outwardly open relative to an inner region surrounded by the groove. The groove has an inner seating surface that hinders movement of the sealing member toward the abutting surface and can facilitate installation of the vane in the engine.

An abradable layer for a rotor case of a gas turbine engine has a base of a high density abradable material axially spanning a central portion of the blade tip and having shallow annular pockets of a less durable abradable material of a lower density axially spanning the leading and trailing edges of the blade tip.

A variable guide vane (VGV) apparatus has a variable guide vane (VGV) rotatable about a vane rotation axis. An actuating arm is mounted to the VGV. The actuating arm has a fork defining a slot for receiving a drive pin. The slot is profiled to accommodate angular misalignment between the pin and the fork throughout a range of motion of the associated pin along the slot.

A variable guide vane (VGV) apparatus has a variable guide vane (VGV) rotatable about a vane rotation axis. An actuating arm is mounted to the VGV. The actuating arm has a fork defining a slot for receiving a drive pin. The slot has a curved contour configured to act as a vane angle schedule adjustment.

There is disclosed a shroud for a compressor stator, including: shroud segments extending circumferentially around an axis along portions of a circumference of the shroud. At least one of the shroud segments extending from a first lateral edge to a second lateral edge. The shroud segment has an inner face oriented toward the axis and an opposed outer face oriented away from the axis. At least one opening extends from the inner face to the outer face for receiving a vane of the compressor. A tab protrudes circumferentially from the second lateral edge and away from the first lateral edge. A slot extends circumferentially from the first lateral edge toward the second lateral edge. The tab is matingly received within a slot of an adjacent one of the shroud segments.

A gas turbine engine assembly comprises a casing defining a gas path, the casing including a shroud having an annular body having a surface defining a portion of gas path, the shroud having slots configured for receiving inserted vanes. The slots are delimited substantially about their perimeter by respective flanges, the flanges radially offset from the shroud gas path surface so as to be disposed outside of said gas path, the flanges defined by opposed flange surfaces. Vanes received in the slots. Grommets engage the vanes at the slots. Inserts extend between the shroud and the grommets, the inserts having slots configured for engaging both of the opposed flanges, the inserts extending in a radial direction from at least the respective flange to an adjacent said shroud gas path surface to substantially matchingly mate with an inner surface the adjacent shroud gas path surface.
