Sole-support device

The invention concerns a ski boot/ski binding combination with an adapter for various sizes of ski boots consisting of a plate-like part and an underside attachment member. The ski boot is removably fastened on to the plate-like part of the adapter. The attachment member serves as the mounting support for the adapter on the ski by means of spring-loaded ski binding parts. The attachment spans in the longitudinal direction of the adapter plate over a length corresponding to the metatarsus and the front tarsus area of the skier's foot in the ski boot. This provides the skier with support in the major stretching part of his foot when walking with the adapter.

Detachable binding device for a ski boot

A ski binding part, in particular a front jaw, having a guide rail adapted to be fastened to the upper side of a ski and on which is arranged a jaw unit movable in a longitudinal direction of the ski and is secured on a base plate. A housing is provided and a locking mechanism for locking the jaw unit in predetermined sliding positions on the guide rail. The locking mechanism has a locking part which is movably held on the jaw unit and which can be moved by a spring into a form-locking engagement selectively with a complementary locking recess on the guide rail. An operating member is adapted to engage the locking part for effecting a disengagement of the locking part from the complementary locking recess. The operating member is supported on the locking part and is provided with at least two surfaces defining an angle with one another and of which each lies at a different distance from a support point and thus determines the engaged or disengaged position of the locking part. The two surfaces are held pressed on the housing in these positions selectively by the spring.

The invention relates to a safety ski binding, in particular a heel holder, comprising a sole holder, which is pivotal about a transversely extending axis on a bearing block, which sole holder is held in the downhill skiing position by a locking rocker arm which is pivotally supported on a sole holder, which locking rocker arm has on the one side a locking projection which, in the downhill skiing position, grips under a locking nose arranged on the bearing block, and on the other side is provided with a locking notch, into which is received a locking member biased by a release spring at least in the downhill skiing position, which locking member is supported in a pivotal spring housing which is movable relative to the bearing block and is, to a limited extent, movable in guideways provided therefor, whereby for the voluntary opening of the sole holder a release lever which is pivotally supported on the sole holder is provided through the operation of which the spring housing will be swung up and the locking member be removed from the locking notch, so that the locking rocker arm in this (disengaged) position is freely pivotal about its supporting axle and whereby the sole holder is loaded directly by an opening spring which urges the sole holder into the opening position.

The invention relates to a safety ski binding, in particular a heel holder, comprising a sole holder which is pivotal about a transverse axle supported on a bearing block secured to a base plate. The sole holder is under the influence of an opening spring which urges it into its opened position. The sole holder is held in the downhill skiing position by a locking rocker arm pivotally supported on the sole holder. The locking rocker arm has on the one side thereof a locking projection which, in the downhill skiing position, grips under a control-cam member arranged on the bearing block and on the other side thereof a locking notch into which is received a locking member at least in the downhill skiing position urged by at least one spring. The locking member is supported in a spring housing which is swingable on the bearing block and is movable to a limited extent with respect thereto, whereby for the voluntary opening of the sole holder a release lever supported on the sole holder is provided, which carries a bolt which couples the release lever to the spring housing.

A safety ski binding has a connecting member which can releasably engage the ski shoe during chair-lift travel to prevent loss of the ski should the ski binding inadvertently release. The connecting member is U-shaped, has its bight pivotally supported on the ski binding, and has two legs which converge inwardly toward each other. The free ends of the legs are bent inwardly and extend toward each other. A stepping plate is provided below the ski shoe sole and aligned receiving openings are provided on opposite sides of the shoe sole and the stepping plate. The connecting member is pivotal about its bight between an engaged position and a disengaged position in which the free ends of the legs are respectively disposed in the receiving openings in the ski shoe sole and the stepping plate.

A holding plate is secured on the top surface of a ski and pivotally supports a support frame. The support frame is a piece of wire material bent preferably into the shape of a square or an omega, the sections of which are preferably coplanar and at least one section of which serves as the pivot axle therefor. A torsion spring encircles said one section of the frame, has two legs with eyelets which respectively grip adjacent sections of the frame, and has a central section which rests against the holding plate. An operating pedal is releasably mounted on the support frame by resilient fastening clamps fabricated from the material of the operating pedal, at least one fastening clamp being engaged with each section of the support frame other than the section serving as the pivot axle. A pair of braking arms is pivotally supported in the pedal, and the pedal is pivotally movable between a braking position in which the free ends of the braking arms extend downwardly below the bottom of the ski and a retracted position in which such free ends are positioned above the top surface of the ski.

Ski brake

A ski brake consisting of spring wire having attached thereto brake arms which are movable between a position spaced above the upper surface of a ski in a retracted position thereof and a position spaced alongside the lateral edges of the ski and projecting beneath the bottom surface of the ski into a braking position. The part of the ski brake which is above the upper surface of the ski has a pedal associated therewith upon which a skier can step to facilitate a movement of the ski brake to the retracted position. The pedal has a fingerlike projection thereon on which is provided a wedge which cooperates with the spring wire to facilitate a spreading of a portion thereof to effect a drawing in of the brake arms over the upper surface of the ski as the ski brake is pivoted to the retracted position. The fingerlike projection is pivotally secured to a part movable with the pedal and, when the skier steps on the pedal, the fingerlike projection will be pivoted as the pedal moves toward the upper surface of the ski to drive a wedge on the projection between a pair of spaced parts on the spring wire to cause a spreading of the spring wire in the region of the spring wire adjacent the pedal. This movement effects a drawing in of the brake arms which are at the end of the spring wire remote from the pedal.

A ski brake having a pedal which is pivotally secured to a mounting member fixedly secured to the upper surface of the ski. The pedal has a pair of elongated and parallel openings extending therethrough along the length of the pedal and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ski. The pedal is biassed to an upright position by a torsion spring wound around an axle to which the pedal is pivotally secured. Additional torsion springs are provided in the openings in the pedal and brake members are received in the opening and through the central portion of these additional torsion springs therein. These additional torsion springs bias the brake arms so that the brake legs are positioned over the upper surface of the ski and laterally inside of vertical planes containing the side edges of the ski. An operating member, such as a flexible strand, is wound around the brake arms with one end thereof being secured to the brake arms. The other end of the strand is secured to the upper surface of the ski, such as through the mounting member. An erecting of the pedal to the upright position will effect a pulling on the strand and a rotating of the brake arms against the force of the additional torsion springs. Thus, the blade portion of the brake arms will swing outside of the lateral edges of the ski into the braking position.

An improvement in an attachment for release ski bindings enabling the skier to selectively decide the mode of skiing, namely downhill skiing or cross-country skiing. The attachment includes a sole plate which holds the ski boot onto the ski. The sole plate has a connecting piece fixedly connected thereto and is pivotally secured to a ski binding element about an axis extending transverse of the longitudinal axis of the ski. The connection between the sole plate and the ski binding element is a releasable connection to facilitate the skier's selection of the mode of skiing.
