Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive, from a base station, a first downlink control information (DCI) message scheduling a first transmission between the UE and the base station. The first DCI message may include an indication of a first beam associated with the first transmission and a second beam associated with a second transmission, where the second beam is associated with the first beam. The UE may then communicate with the base station via the second beam associated with the second transmission based on the first DCI message including the indication of the second beam, where the second transmission is scheduled by a second message different from the first DCI message.

Techniques for signaling a common downlink and uplink beam

Aspects described herein relate to receiving control information that schedules multiple data transmissions to be received by a user equipment (UE), receiving a first data transmission of the multiple data transmissions using, based on whether the first data transmission is scheduled to be received before or after a threshold time, one of a first beam identified in the control information or a first default beam, where the threshold time is a time offset from a time at which the control information is received, and receiving a second data transmission of the multiple data transmissions using one of the first beam identified in the control information, a second beam identified in the control information, or a second default beam. Other aspects relate to transmitting the control information, the first data transmission, and the second data transmission.

Techniques for using beams in multiple transport block scheduling

Wireless communications systems, apparatuses, and methods are provided. A method of wireless communication performed by a sidelink user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a first candidate relay UE, a plurality of beam failure detection reference signals (BFD RSs) associated with a first plurality of beams, detecting, based on at least one BFD RS of the plurality of BFD RSs, a beam failure associated with a first beam of the first plurality of beams based on a measurement associated with the first beam, and transmitting, to at least one of the first candidate relay UE or a network unit, an indicator indicating the detected beam failure.

Beam failure recovery in sidelink communications

The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving improved monitoring reports. A base station can configure a user equipment (UE) to monitor a channel/signal on multiple beams. The base station can transmit the multiple beams to the UE, which are at different time periods in a monitoring window. The UE can then monitor the multiple beams within the monitoring window and determine a monitoring report. The UE can then transmit the monitoring report to the base station, wherein the monitoring report indicates a subset of multiple beams as being more or less suitable for communication. The base station can also indicate that it will stop transmitting one or more beams and then stop transmitting the beams. If the UE does not send the report, the base station can continue to transmit the multiple beams.

Dynamic search space configuration

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a user equipment (UE) to receive, via a first active cell serving the UE, a first control message activating a set of transmission configuration indicator states associated with a set of candidate cells that are inactive at the UE. The UE may receive, via the first active cell after receiving the first control message, a second control message indicating for the UE to switch to a second cell of the set of candidate cells. In response to receiving the second control message indicating for the UE to switch to the second cell, the UE may switch to communicating with the second cell using a first transmission configuration indicator state of the activated set of transmission configuration indicator states.

Transmission configuration indicator state set preconfiguration in candidate cells

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) receives scheduling information that schedules a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS). The UE determines whether to autonomously update a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state in response to the scheduled CSI-RS based, for example, on CSI-RS power metrics or payload size of a CSI report. Then, depending upon the determination, the UE either autonomously updates the TCI state or updates the TCI state only in response to TCI state update instructions received from the base station. In other aspects, a UE receives scheduling information from a multiple transmission and reception point (mTRP) base station that schedules a CSI-RS. The UE autonomously updates TCI states for use with the mTRP base station. Complementary operations may be performed by the base station. These and other aspects described herein may reduce latency and improve performance between a UE and a base station.

Conditions for autonomously updating a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a UE capability to receive a first portion of a tracking reference signal (TRS) and a second portion of the TRS, the first portion and the second portion associated with a TRS pattern. The UE may receive, from the base station, an indication of the TRS pattern, where the TRS pattern includes the first portion of the TRS pattern and the second portion of the TRS pattern. The UE may receive one or more TRSs according to the first portion of the TRS pattern and the second portion of the TRS pattern.

Enhanced tracking reference signal patterns

A network node may transmit an RRC message to a UE. The RRC message may include a configuration of a plurality of TCI states. The network node may transmit one or more MAC-CEs to the UE. The one or more MAC-CEs may include a configuration of a plurality of codepoints. Each codepoint in the plurality of codepoints may be associated with one or more TRPs in a plurality of TRPs of the network node. The plurality of codepoints may be associated with at least one first TCI state for an uplink communication and at least one second TCI state for a downlink communication. The network node may transmit a single DCI message to the UE. The single DCI message may be indicative of at least one codepoint in the plurality of codepoints. The network node may communicate with the UE based on the at least one codepoint.

SDCI MTRP unified TCI activation design

Wireless communications systems may support identification or determination of a common default beam for a component carrier (CC) group (e.g., such that all CCs of a CC group may be associated with a same default beam). For example, a CC group may be configured or established to include one or more CCs (e.g., for carrier aggregation), where each CC group may share a same analog beamformer. As such, a beam (e.g., a default uplink/downlink beam) may be established as default or common across CCs of a CC group (e.g., versus default beams being configured or established for individual CCs). Such an established default beam of a CC group (e.g., a default beam common to all CCs of a CC group) may include or refer to a default downlink shared channel beam, a default sounding reference signal (SRS) beam, a default downlink control channel beam, etc.

Common default beam per component carrier group

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for providing power control parameters for channels and/or reference signals sharing a same common transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes measuring a path loss at a user equipment, receiving, from a network, a plurality of power control configurations, wherein: each power control configuration of the plurality of power control configurations comprises a respective plurality of power control parameters, and each power control configuration of the plurality of power control configurations applies to a respective uplink channel or reference signal object associated with a common transmission configuration indication (TCI) state, and transmitting at least one uplink channel or reference signal object at a transmission power that is based on the measured path loss and at least one of the power control configurations of the plurality of power control configurations.

Power control information for common TCI states

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of one or more beam failure detection reference signal sets corresponding to a list of component carriers. Whether a component carrier is included in the list or whether a beam failure detection reference signal set of the one or more beam failure detection reference signal sets is applicable to the component carrier, or both, may be based on whether the component carrier is of a first type configured for a single beam failure detection reference signal set or is of a second type configured for multiple beam failure detection reference signal sets. The UE may monitor one or more component carriers included in the list for beam failure using the one or more indicated beam failure detection reference signal sets.

Beam failure detection reference signal set update

Techniques and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first message indicating a first configuration for a set of resources for transmitting reference signals. The first configuration may include a first indication of a first set of power control parameters corresponding to the set of resources and a second indication of a set of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states. The UE may receive a second message indicating a second configuration for the set of TCI states. The second configuration may include a third indication of a second set of power control parameters corresponding to the set of TCI states. The UE may transmit the reference signals in accordance with the first set of power control parameters or the second set of power control parameters.

Techniques for flexible configuration of power control parameters

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitting user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, a sidelink grant that indicates a sidelink resource and indicates a set of sidelink beams associated with a sidelink communication using the sidelink resource. The UE may select, based at least in part on the set of sidelink beams indicated in the sidelink grant, a sidelink beam for the sidelink communication. The UE may transmit, via the selected sidelink beam, the sidelink communication to one or more receiving UEs using the sidelink resource indicated in the sidelink grant. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Network indication to control sidelink beam selection

In operation, the UE in the cell (SpCell/SCell) may be configured to operate with beam group specific BFRs, cell-level BFRs, or combinations of them under a beam failure configuration that is determined according to various rules. A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) and a UE is disclosed. The method includes determining a beam failure configuration for a serving cell, the beam failure configuration including at least one of a beam failure parameter of a beam group or a beam failure parameter of a cell; and detecting, in the serving cell based at least in part on the beam failure configuration, a beam failure recovery (BFR) based at least in part on the beam failure configuration. The beam failure configuration is determined based on various rules that control the operation of the BFR.
