A method is provided for immobilizing a ligand, e.g., a nucleic acid, on a solid support. The method includes providing a solid support containing an immobilized latent thiol group, activating the thiol group, contacting the activated thiol group with a nucleic acid comprising an acrylamide functional group, and forming a covalent bond between the two groups, thereby immobilizing the nucleic acid to the solid support. Kits containing the solid supports and method of utilizing the solid supports are also provided.

Methods of immobilizing ligands on solid supports

The invention relates to a method for producing hydrophilic monomers which are particularly useful for electrophoresis and to electrophoresis compositions and coating compositions. The electrophoresis gel compositions and electrophoresis polymer compositions are hydrolytically stable and have high resolution. The method uses the steps of reacting a (meth)acryloyl with an aminoalcohol in the presence of a base in a polar solvent, optionally filtering an aqueous solution of the reaction product, deionizing an aqueous solution of the reaction product, and removing the solvent.

Method for producing hydrophilic monomers and uses thereof

The invention relates to a method for producing hydrophilic monomers which are particularly useful for electrophoresis and to electrophoresis compositions and coating compositions. The method uses the steps of reacting a (meth)acryloyl with an aminoalcohol in the presence of a base in a polar solvent, optionally filtering an aqueous solution of the reaction product, deionizing an aqueous solution of the reaction product, and removing the solvent.

Cold-seal adhesives are disclosed that contain no natural rubber and are able of forming dry content on stretchable fabric strips which adhere to one another with acceptable strength at room temperature by pressure contact to form cohesive surgical bandages, but also allow such strips to be reeled into rolls and stored for extended periods of time without blocking. Such cold-seal adhesives are aqueous dispersions having a Zahn Cup #2 viscosity between 16-40 seconds containing 30 to 50 percent solids content of a polyurethane ionomer reaction product of 50-80% polyester polyol, 15-25% aliphatic diisocyanate and 3-6% dimethylol propionic acid neutralized with a base selected from tertiary amines and alkali metal hydroxides and the reaction product possesses a T.sub.g of between about -20.degree. to 5.degree. C.
