A Gifford-McMahon (GM) type double-inlet pulse tube system providing cooling at cryogenic temperatures is provided. The system has a co-axial double-inlet valve that includes a base having an adjustable port, a fixed needle partially engaged in one end of the adjustable port, an adjustable needle partially engaged in another end of said adjustable port, and a body for housing the base, the fixed needle and the adjustable needle. The base is configured to be adjustable along an axial direction. The adjustable needle is arranged co-axially with the fixed needle. The adjustable port and the adjustable needle are configured to control an alternating current (AC) flow and a direct current (DC) flow between the stem port and the end port and to produce the DC flow in either direction between the stem port and the end port.

Co-axtal, double-inlet valve for pulse tube cryocooler

A first-stage regenerator material and a second-stage regenerator material are regenerator materials each having a laminated structure for use in a GM refrigerator. Each layer of the regenerator material is provided with a plurality of holes to allow gas to pass therethrough along a laminating direction. At least one layer includes a base material and a coating covering the base material. Volumetric specific heat of the coating is larger than volumetric specific heat of the base material in a temperature range from 20 K to 40 K.

Regenerator material and regenerative refrigerator

A regenerative refrigerator includes: a regenerator unit that precools a working gas; and an expander that cools the working gas by expanding the working gas precooled by the regenerator unit. The regenerator unit includes a zinc based regenerator member formed of zinc or an alloy containing zinc as a main component of the alloy. A first stage regenerator optionally includes a high temperature part including a first regenerator member and a low temperature part including a second regenerator member different from the first regenerator member. A second stage regenerator optionally includes a high temperature part including a second regenerator member and a low temperature part including a third regenerator member different from the second regenerator member. The second regenerator member optionally includes a zinc based regenerator member formed of zinc or an alloy containing zinc as a main component of the alloy.

Regenerative refrigerator, first stage regenerator, and second stage regenerator

A first regenerator of a regenerative refrigerator includes a first regenerator member and a first cylinder accommodating the first regenerator member. A second regenerator includes a second regenerator member and a second cylinder accommodating the second regenerator member and may be connected to a low temperature end of the first regenerator. A gas pipe guides a coolant gas discharged from the first regenerator to a portion in the middle of the second regenerator. The gas pipe may include a plurality of gas relief holes in the middle of the gas pipe.
