An apparatus for use in an O-RAN base station includes processing circuitry. To configure the O-RAN base station for signal processing in an O-RAN network, the processing circuitry is to decode an SRS and a DMRS in a UL stream received from at least one UE. Channel estimation is performed based on the SRS to obtain a channel estimate matrix of channel estimates associated with reception of the UL stream. A noise covariance is generated using the DMRS. Beamforming weights are determined using the channel estimate matrix and the noise covariance. Beamforming is performed on UL data corresponding to the UL stream to generate beamformed data streams. The beamforming is based on applying the beamforming weights to the UL data.

A method and apparatus for detecting and locating a fault in a cable network. A cable modem may perform channel estimation to obtain a time domain channel response on an echo channel in a cable network. The cable modem then analyzes the time domain channel response to determine whether there is any change from a previously obtained time domain channel response on the echo channel. If there is a change from the previously obtained time domain channel response, the cable modem may generate an alert for a fault in the cable network and estimate a location of the fault based on the time domain channel response. Calibration may be performed to determine a reference latency for a reflection occurred inside the cable modem, and the location of the fault may be estimated based on the reference latency.

The cable modem is configured to operate in a full duplex mode. The channels include a full duplex upstream channel, a full duplex downstream channel, and a legacy downstream channel. The maximum expected power may be estimated via a sounding procedure. A power spectral density may be measured and the maximum expected power may be derived from the power spectral density.

A cable modem system for discovering interference groups (IGs) includes an infrastructure and a cable modem termination system (CMTS). The infrastructure is for transferring data. The CMTS is configured to initiate generation of test signals by a set of cable modems (CMs), obtain a set of test measurements for the set of CMs, discover interference groups (IGs) of the set of CMs based on the obtained set of test measurements and assign a plurality of upstream and downstream channels for the set of CMs that use orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based on the discovered IGs.

Interference mitigation

A cable modem supporting full duplex (FDX) operations. The cable modem includes a transmit circuitry configured to process a transmit signal and a receive circuitry configured to process a receive signal. The receive circuitry includes a switchable analog filter configured to filter the receive signal. The switchable analog filter is configurable for different passband frequencies. The receive circuitry also includes a digital compensation filter configured to compensate a difference in frequency response in a specific frequency band due to switching of the switchable analog filter for a different passband frequency. The cable modem also includes an adjacent channel interference (ACI) cancellation filter and an adjacent leakage interference (ALI) cancellation filter. A digital compensation filter is also used in processing the ACI cancellation signal and the ALI cancellation signal to impose or compensate the difference in frequency response due to the switchable analog filter switching.
