A power plant is provided including a heat recovery steam generator positioned to receive a flow of an exhaust gas and having a heating surface, an exhaust gas recirculation line branching off at an extraction point within the heat recovery steam generator and opening into the heat recovery steam generator at an injection point upstream of the extraction point within the heat recovery steam generator, a thermal storage system arranged between the extraction point and the injection point in the exhaust gas recirculation line wherein the thermal energy storage system stores thermal energy, and a blower arranged in the exhaust gas recirculation line to push air or exhaust gas through the thermal energy storage system.

Method and device to improve the performance of a power plant integrated with a thermal energy storage system

A combine cycle power plant is presented. The combine cycle power plant includes a gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator, a main steam turbine and a supercritical steam turbine. The supercritical steam turbine may be operated as a separate steam turbine that may be not a single steam turboset with the main steam turbine. The supercritical steam turbine receives supercritical steam generated in the heat recovery steam generator to produce power output. Exiting steam from the supercritical steam turbine may be routed to the main steam turbine. The supercritical steam turbine may be operated at a rotational speed that is higher than a grid frequency. The rotational speed of the supercritical steam turbine may be reduced to the grid frequency via a gearbox.

A steam power plant arrangement with a steam turbine and a steam generator, a condenser and a preheating system is characterized according to the invention in that the steam generator, the condenser and the preheating system are configured as individual functionally and spatially defined function areas, which are arranged in a spatial installation concept in a distributed manner around the steam turbine.

It is proposed that, during the operation of a steam turbine of a steam power plant, the internal pressure and also the internal temperature and, in the region outside it, the external temperature be determined in at least one steam-carrying component. As a result of a change in the operating state, in particular in the event of a load change, then, the abovementioned values vary, so that, under some circumstances, the mechanical stresses which in this case act on the steam-carrying component become unacceptably high. Consequently, a spatial temperature distribution and a reference stress of the steam-carrying component are determined from the abovementioned values and compared with a material limit stress. If the reference stress is greater than the material limit stress, a limit steam pressure desired value is determined, and at least one steam valve is set in such a way that the steam pressure on the steam-carrying component corresponds approximately to this limit steam pressure desired value. By the method according to the invention, an automatic reduction in the throttling is obtained, so that the efficiency of the steam power plant, in particular in the part-load range, is increased. A device according to the invention serves for carrying out the method according to the invention.
