A spacer profile adapted to be used in a spacer frame of an insulating glass unit includes a hollow profile body made of a first synthetic material and a chamber for accommodating hydroscopic material, the hollow profile body having an inner wall that is, in an assembled state of the insulating glass unit, directed to the intervening space between panes of the insulating glass unit, an outer wall on the opposite side of the inner wall, a first side wall and a second side wall on the opposite side to the first side wall, the walls being connected to form the chamber, and a diffusion barrier portion made of a second synthetic material with sheet silicates and being formed as at least a part of the outer wall.

A composite profile for a window, door or fa&#xe7;ade element includes first and second outer profile parts and at least one insulating strip connecting the first and second outer profile parts with an intermediate space defined between them for thermal separation. At least one outer profile part connecting element is disposed in the intermediate space so that it is normally not in contact with the first and second outer profile parts. An actuating element is disposed so that, upon being activated by heat, it moves the outer profile part connecting element into engagement with the first and second outer profile parts, so that the outer profile part connecting element connects the first and second outer profile parts.

An insulating strip is configured to support two profiles or frames in a spaced relationship. The insulating strip includes a body extending in a longitudinal direction and has at least first and second longitudinal edges. The longitudinal edges are configured to be connected with the respective frames or profiles in a shear-resistant manner. Openings penetrate through one or more walls of the body and one or more struts separate the openings from each other in the longitudinal direction of the body.
