A sensor device for detecting and/or measuring gases includes two electrodes. A thin-layered proton-conductive material is fitted between the two electrodes. The gas can be detected and/or measured by a proton gradient that arises due to different gas concentrations.

Micromechanical sensor device

A device for operating a gas sensor having both at least one pump cell and a measuring cell is provided. A constant current source is provided that makes available a pump current which acts upon an outer electrode of the pump cell. The constant current source provides at least two different amounts of the pump current and/or allows for an alternating operation having ON phases and OFF phases, the duration of the ON phases/OFF phases being specifiable. The device may be largely implemented in digital circuitry and adapted to different requirements.

Device for operating a gas sensor

Self-diagnosis of a particle sensor may be used for determining a particle content in a gaseous stream. The particle sensor may include at least two interlocking, interdigital electrodes and a heating element. The heating element may be separated from the electrodes by an insulation layer. The particle sensor may be heated in a regeneration phase and a soot load on the particle sensor can thereby be removed. A semiconductive layer may be formed in the insulation layer directly beneath the electrodes by means of external doping or auto-doping. To perform a self-diagnosis, a measurement voltage may be applied at least periodically between the electrodes and a self-diagnostic current may be measured.

Method and device for the self-diagnosis of a particle sensor

A sensor element is provided for gas sensors, in particular to determine particles in gas mixtures, the sensor element including at least one electrochemical measuring element exposed to the gas mixture to be determined, and at least one temperature-measuring element integrated into the sensor element. The temperature-measuring element includes a resistor track, which has an electric resistance of less than 180 Ohm at 0&#xb0; C. The resistor track may thus be produced by thin-foil technology, such as screen printing, for example.

Sensor element for gas sensors and method for operating same

A sensor element of a gas sensor, which is used for determining the concentration of ammonia and, optionally, at least one further component of a gas mixture, in particular in exhaust gases of combustion engines. The sensor element includes at least one first auxiliary electrode and at least one measuring electrode positioned downstream in the flow direction of the gas mixture, which are in direct contact with the gas mixture, a signal generated by the measuring electrode being used at least intermittently for determining the concentration of ammonia. A sensor element for gas sensors for determining the concentration of particles in gas mixtures, especially soot sensors, having at least one measuring device exposed to the gas to be determined, at least one heating element integrated into the sensor element and at least one temperature measurement element integrated into the sensor element, the heating element being situated within the sensor element spatially between the measuring device and the temperature measurement element.

Sensor element for particle sensors and method for operating same

A method and a sensor element are provided for determining the concentration of an oxidizable gas in a gas mixture, e.g., in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. Within the sensor element of a gas sensor, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen, and/or carbon monoxide contained in the gas mixture are at least partially removed in an initial step. In a further step, the concentration of the gas to be detected in the gas mixture freed of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and/or hydrogen is ascertained.

Method and sensor element for determining a gas in a gas mixture

A gas sensor based on solid electrolyte is proposed for measuring a gas component in a gas mixture, having at least one sensitive region, which has a first means for producing a reaction gas from an additional gas component of the gas mixture. A second means is situated in the sensitive region of the gas sensor, using which the residual content of the reaction gas may be determined, after a reaction that takes place between the reaction gas and the gas component to be measured.

Gas sensor and method for measuring a gas component in a gas mixture

A sensor element of a gas sensor is described, this sensor being used to determine the concentration of at least one component of a gas mixture, in particular in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. It includes at least two electrodes which are situated in an internal gas space which is in direct contact with the gas mixture, the one electrode containing a first material and the second electrode containing a second material. The internal gas space contains a means which acts physically and/or chemically to prevent diffusion of metal between the electrodes.
