The adjusting in the cable entry opening occurs by removal of concentric adjusting rings, wherein the number of adjusting rings removed and the strength of the sealing wrapper applied are determined with the aid of a template.

A terminating element (1) for a central element (9) of an optical cable (13) comprises a sleeve (3) closed at one end for receiving the end of the central element (9) or core of the optical cable (13). An open end of the sleeve (3) is provided with a pair of flexible vanes (2) or legs having seating regions (5,6) which can be clamped onto the exterior of the cable (13) and each of the legs has free ends to help center the end of the cable and the terminating element (1) into a cable introduction (15), whose junction can be sealed by a section of a shrink hose (16) or sleeve (3).

Terminating element for a central element of an optical cable and method

A cable closure for receiving electrical or optical splices has a lower shell and a cover and at least one end face of the lower shell has a fixed part and a removable sealing part. The lead-in openings are formed in a separating plane or line between the fixed part and the sealing element, and the lower shell and cover are connected to each other along one side by a hinge and fastening elements are located on the opposite longitudinal side of the closure. The cable closure includes cable-clamping devices for the cable sheath and clamping devices for central elements of the optical fiber cables.

An intercept mechanism for clamping on a central element includes a clamp element, a sleeve and a retainer element. The clamp element, at one end, has a mounting end connected by an adapter portion to a clamping end which has been bent in a U-shape to receive the end of the central element and is held on the central element by the sleeve. The mounting end can be detachably connected to the retainer element and the retainer element and mounting end can then be fixed to the cable with the assistance of a hose clamp.
