A pedal unit for a vehicle has a sensor surface which includes at least two functional regions and is designed to detect an actuation by the driver. The pedal unit also has at least one evaluation and control unit coupled to the sensor surface and designed to evaluate an actuation of one of the at least two functional regions detected by the sensor surface and, as a function of this evaluation, control a vehicle function associated with the corresponding functional region of the sensor surface. At least one region of the sensor surface is raised or lowered and enables a haptic differentiation between the at least two functional regions of the sensor surface.

A method for the functional testing of a pressure generator assembly in an electronically slip-controllable power braking system having redundant brake pressure generation for an autonomously drivable motor vehicle. The method relates to carry out a regular test of the functional capacity of a secondary pressure generator assembly. A primary pressure generator assembly and the secondary pressure generator assembly are hydraulically connected, parallel to one another, to a brake circuit to which a wheel brake is connected. During the method, the wheel brake is decoupled from the brake circuit. At least one pressure generator of the primary pressure generator assembly, or a pressure generator of the secondary pressure generator assembly, is actuated in order to apply pressure to the brake circuit.

Method for functional testing of a pressure generator assembly of an electronically slip-controllable external power braking system having redundant brake pressure generation, in particular for an autonomously drivable motor vehicle

To check an electrohydraulic power vehicle brake system of a passenger car traveling autonomously on public roads for air in the brake fluid, the method provides for a consecutive generation of a brake pressure using a first power brake-pressure generator and a redundant, second power brake-pressure generator. The brake pressure is intermittently lowered to ambient pressure. In the method, a comparison of the brake fluid volumes required for generating the brake pressure is provided. If the brake fluid volume required for generating the brake pressure using the second power brake-pressure generator is greater, then the presence of air in a brake fluid of the vehicle brake system is inferred.

A method checks a functionality of a solenoid valve for a brake system in a motor vehicle. The solenoid valve includes an armature and a coil. The armature, on actuation of the solenoid valve, is moved by a magnetic field of the coil, reducing an air gap of the solenoid valve defined by a position of the armature. The method includes measuring an electric current during the actuation of the solenoid valve, analysing a characteristic of the electric current during the actuation of the solenoid valve, and assessing the functionality of the solenoid valve based on the analysis of the characteristic of the electric current.
