Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A service is utilized by a wireless communication device (). For this service, the wireless communication device () simultaneously maintains a first data path () and a second data path () to a wireless communication network. The first data path () has a first QoS level, and the second data path () has a second QoS level that is different from the first QoS level. The wireless communication device () selects one of the first data path () and the second data path () for transmitting content of the service while the other of the first data path () and the second data path () is maintained in an inactive state.

Methods of operating a first VAE server are disclosed. V2X message information per geographical area is received from a V2X application specific server. Position information is received from a VAE client of a wireless device, wherein the position information indicates a position of the wireless device. Methods of identifying VAE servers and related V2X wireless devices and servers

A method in a User Plane Function (UPF) comprising receiving from a Policy Control Function (PCF), an instruction to create a new Packet Detection Rule (PDR), the instruction comprising an IP address for the wireless device, a value of a ToS field, and a quality-of-service, QoS, reference or charging policy. The method further comprises storing the IP address, the value of the ToS field, and the QoS reference or charging policy as a predetermined PDR. The method further comprises subsequently receiving, from a wireless device, a first packet targeted to an application server, AS, mapping the first packet to the predetermined PDR, based on a value of a ToS, field in the first packet, and adding a flow identifier associated with the first packet to the predetermined PDR. This serves to bind the new connection to the PDR.

UE-initiated in-band policy activation for flow-based policies

A V2X UE (e.g., wireless device) that includes a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) application enabler (VAE) client and a V2X application-specific client associated with a V2X application, where the V2X UE is connected with a V2X application server is enabled to receive notifications of conditions occurring in a wireless network that connects them. The V2X application-specific client in the UE performing a registration with the V2X application server for receiving notifications. The registration comprises one or more conditions monitored by a network function (NF) in the wireless network. For example, the condition can be related to QoS provided by the network in a particular geographic area and/or in a particular time window, where the NF can be a network data and analytics function (NWDAF). The VAE client receives from the VAE server the notifications. The VAE client can receive a notification of a particular occurrence of the condition after the NF monitoring detects the occurrence.

Network information delivery towards application at device side

A method for notification control in a communication system performed by a core network is presented. The method comprising: establishing a PDU session; enabling a radio access network, RAN, to send a notification that notifying a UE, of the unfulfillment or re-fulfillment of QoS, for a QoS Flow in the PDU session using an AN-signaling based notification. The AN-signaling based notification including the unfulfillment or re-fulfillment of QoS parameters as defined in a QoS Flow description. The AN-signaling based notification further including expected QoS figures, an expected time interval and an accuracy of the notification. The UE/AF may further adapt their behavior according to the expected QoS provided by the AN.

Notification control in a communication system

Embodiments include methods performed by a V2X application enabler (VAE) client of a V2X User Equipment (UE) arranged for communication with a VAE server. Such methods include sending, to the VAE server, a registration or de-registration request to register or de-register for receiving intelligent transport system (ITS) messages. The registration or de-registration request includes an identifier of the V2X UE and an identifier of a first type of ITS messages from the VAE server, for which the V2X UE wishes to register or de-register for receiving. Such methods include receiving, from the VAE server a response indicating acknowledgement of the registration or de-registration request. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by VAE servers, as well as UEs and application servers configured to perform such methods.

Method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for intelligent transportation system (ITS) message distribution

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Embodiments include methods performed by a V2X application enabler (VAE) client, of a V2X User Equipment (UE) arranged for communication with a VAE server. Such methods include sending, to the VAE server, a first request for registration or de-registration to receive intelligent transportation system (ITS) messages associated with at least one of the following: a first V2X service, when an identifier of the first V2X service is included in the first request; and a first geographic area, when an identifier of the first geographic area is included in the first request.
