Methods, and systems of testing mobile devices in a four downlink (DL) manner are described. Among other improvements, the methods and systems of the present teaching provide a practical way to provide testing of DUTs that reduces not only the complexity of a test of the DUT, but also the time, required floor space/chamber height of the test system, and equipment that are needed to complete the testing to certain requirements, such as set by a standard.

Method of testing multi-panel user equipment with spherical coverage

A method determines corrected TRP or TIS of an AUT in a near-field test chamber, the AUT having a phase center offset from a rotation center of the test chamber. The method includes performing EIRP or EIS measurements of the AUT at first sampling grid points on a first closed-surface geometric shape centered at the rotation center; mapping second sampling grid points to the first closed-surface geometric shape to provide mapped sampling grid points on the first closed-surface geometric shape, where the second sampling grid points are on a second closed-surface geometric shape centered at the phase center of the AUT; determining estimated EIRPs or EISs at the mapped sampling grid points using the EIRP or EIS measurements; scaling the estimated EIRPs or EISs at the mapped sampling grid points to provide scaled EIRPs or EISs; and calculating the corrected TRP or TIS based on the scaled EIRPs or EISs.

System and method for determining corrected total radiated power (TRP) or corrected total isotropic sensitivity (TIS) of offset antenna under test

A system and method are provided to determine at least one of equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) or effective isotropic sensitivity (EIS) of an antenna under test (AUT) in a test chamber, the AUT including an antenna array with an array phase center that is offset from a center of a quiet zone of the test chamber. The method includes performing a local beam peak direction scan of an antenna pattern of the AUT using a probe antenna located at laterally offset positions at a near-field distance from the AUT to determine a beam peak direction; performing EIRP and/or EIS near-field measurements of the AUT in the determined beam peak direction using the probe antenna located at near-field distances from the AUT in a radial direction; deriving a far-field equivalent of the EIRP and/or EIS near-field measurement along the determined beam peak direction; and deriving the beam peak direction of the AUT.

System and method for performing measurements of antenna under test offset from center of quiet zone

A system and method are provided to determine equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP), effective isotropic sensitivity (EIS) and/or signal quality of a DUT in a test chamber, where the DUT has an AUT that has beam-forming capability and is offset from a center of a quiet zone of the test chamber. The method includes establishing a connection with the DUT using a far-field probe antenna in a far-field of the test chamber relative to the AUT so that the AUT forms a beam in a beam peak direction towards the far-field probe antenna; locking the beam of the AUT in the beam peak direction to prevent subsequent beam forming; and performing a near-field measurement of the EIRP, the EIS and/or the signal quality of the AUT with the beam locked in the beam peak direction using a near-field probe antenna in a near-field of the test chamber.

A testing method for testing mobile communication devices comprises measuring a three-dimensional antenna pattern of an active phased antenna array (AAS) of the mobile communication device, with the AAS being maintained at a specific beamforming alignment during the measurement. A predefined base fading profile is calibrated with the measured three-dimensional antenna pattern to obtain an optimized fading profile adapted to the specific beamforming alignment. A channel model for emulation of a base station is emulated on the basis of the optimized fading profile. The method further involves performing a receiver test on the mobile communication device using the emulated channel model. The testing method may in some embodiments be a radiated two-stage over-the-air (RTS-OTA) testing method.

Testing methods and systems for mobile communication devices

A test system for over the air (OTA) measurements of a device under test (DUT) with a dynamic adjustable grid is provided. The system comprises a device under test (DUT), at least one positioner, at least one measurement antenna, and at least one measuring/control device. The measurement antenna is configured to measure several defined measurement points with regard to the device under test, wherein the measurement points are arranged in a grid around the device under test. The configuration of the grid depends on an input value received by the measuring/control device.

Test system and method for over the air (OTA) measurements with a dynamic adjustable grid

A test method for testing a device under test with a measurement unit comprises transmitting a number of test commands from the measurement unit to the device under test via a test interface of the device under test, generating in the device under test in response to the test commands respective communication signals, emitting by the device under test the generated communication signals via a wireless communication interface, receiving signals from the device under test in the measurement unit, and evaluating the received signals in the measurement unit.

A test arrangement for testing a device under test comprises a rotatable device support for carrying the device under test at least rotatable in one axis, a first test antenna and a second test antenna, a first antenna positioning means for moving the first test antenna relative to the device under test in elevation direction, and a second antenna positioning means for moving the second test antenna relative to the device under test in azimuth direction and elevation direction.

Test arrangement and test method

Various embodiments of an antenna structure for mobile devices are described. In one or more embodiments a multi-band antenna includes a grounded parasitic element. In some embodiments, a high band arm is provided, and is fed off-center, so that the resonating arms are not symmetrical in length. In some embodiments, a coupled ground resonator is included to add a differential resonating mode. A ground leg may be included to offer facilitate impedance and inductance matching. The combination of these structures creates four distinct resonance modes for the high band, which creases a wide effective bandwidth for the disclosed antenna. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
