The disclosure relates to techniques for diffusion imaging of an examination region of a patient using a magnetic resonance facility. The technique may include specifying a number, which is at least two, of diffusion gradient pulse sequences for recording diffusion data sets using the magnetic resonance facility such that the diffusion gradient pulse sequences have a b-matrix that describes a planar diffusion encoding. The matrix may have precisely two intrinsic values that differ from zero. The technique may further include recording the diffusion data sets with the specified diffusion gradient sequences, and acquiring a trace-weighted image data set by geometric averaging of the at least two diffusion data sets. The diffusion gradient pulse sequences are determined such that the sum of all the b-matrices results in the unit matrix multiplied by a factor that characterizes the diffusion weighting (e.g. a predetermined b-value) and the number divided by three.

Techniques for diffusion imaging

In a method for the optimized acquisition of diffusion-weighted measurement data of an object under examination using a magnetic resonance (MR) system, a first set of diffusion-weighted measurement data is captured by excitation, and, in an acquisition phase, acquisition of at least one position-encoded echo signal, where prior to the acquisition phase, diffusion gradients are switched for diffusion encoding of the diffusion-weighted measurement data in a diffusion preparation phase, and at least one further set of diffusion-weighted measurement data is captured by excitation, and, in an acquisition phase, acquisition of at least one further position-encoded echo signal, where prior to the acquisition phase, diffusion gradients are switched for diffusion encoding of the diffusion-weighted measurement data in the associated diffusion preparation phase. The diffusion gradients switched in consecutive diffusion preparation phases may have an inverted polarity.

Method for the optimized acquisition of diffusion-weighted measurement data of an object under examination by a magnetic resonance system

A method for operating a magnetic resonance device is provided. The magnetic resonance device includes a component that has an operating limit in relation to a state parameter. The component uses a protocol to record magnetic resonance data. The protocol includes a magnetic resonance sequence and is described by protocol parameters. A protocol parameter set that, in relation to a protocol section, allows the protocol section to be repeated as often as desired without exceeding the operating limit is provided or determined. The method includes receiving a boost parameter from a user interface. At least for the protocol section, adaptation parameters are determined at least partially automatically based on the boost parameter, such that the desired number of repetitions described by the boost parameter is established while complying with the operating limit. Magnetic resonance data is recorded with the protocol using the determined adaptation parameters.

Operating a magnetic resonance device

A method for preparing magnetic resonance imaging of an object under examination is described. A plurality of representative pulse sequence segments are generated, each of which is associated with a reference gradient amplitude of the gradient pulse having the highest stimulation potential of the representative pulse sequence segment, and the stimulation potential of which is representative of a group of partially different pulse sequences. For each of the representative pulse sequence segments, a maximum gradient slew rate is determined for which a permitted maximum value of the stimulation potential is not exceeded. One of the representative pulse sequence segments is determined and selected, for a measurement protocol to be planned for a magnetic resonance imaging to be performed, according to the gradient amplitude of the gradient pulse having the highest stimulation potential of a pulse sequence segment of the pulse sequence on which the measurement protocol is based. The pulse sequence segment of the pulse sequence on which the measurement protocol is based is adjusted in such a way that a maximum gradient slew rate associated with the selected representative pulse sequence segment is also not exceeded by the pulse sequence segment of the pulse sequence on which the measurement protocol is based.

Preparing a magnetic resonance imaging method in compliance with stimulation-based limitations

A method for controlling a magnetic resonance imaging system, including: selecting a plurality of spatially non-selective initial RF-pulses each having a predefined pulse shape and a predefined frequency; determining a combined RF-pulse from the initial RF-pulses by choosing a time-offset comprising a relative application time-shift between the initial RF-pulses, wherein this time-offset is chosen such that the initial RF-pulses overlap; and including the combined RF pulse in a pulse sequence applied in a magnetic resonance imaging system.

In a method for improving the contrast of magnetization-transfer-prepared magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), an acquisition scheme comprising a plurality of inversion-recovery (IR)-imaging modules in an interleaved arrangement is selected, a number of magnetization-transfer (MT)-preparation modules is selected, a pulse sequence is generated by arranging at least one MT-preparation module of the number of MT-preparation modules between two successive IR-preparation modules of the interleaved IR-imaging modules or in front of the first IR-preparation module of a group of interleaved IR-imaging modules, and the pulse sequence for an MRI examination is applied or saved. Each IR-imaging module may include an IR-preparation module and a slice acquisition module.

Method and system for improving the contrast of magnetization-transfer-prepared MRI

The present disclosure relates to an imaging system for creating an image of an examination object comprising a system component and a control component. The system component has a component property that is able to assume a value in a first value range established by the imaging system. A corresponding system component of another imaging system comprises a corresponding component property with another value range with an overlap range with the first value range. The control component is embodied to control the use of the system component on the creation of the image, wherein the control component can be operated in a compatibility mode. In the compatibility mode, the control component is configured, on the creation of the image, to only allow values that lie within the overlap range for the component property of the system component.

A method for operating a medical diagnostic system that is configured to use a system component of the diagnostic system to generate examination data of a person under examination during an examination procedure is provided. The examination procedure with control of the system component is controlled by a piece of control software, and a component driver exchanges control commands of the control software with the system component in order to control the system component. The method includes providing an event driver that communicates with the control software via an interface of the control software. Via the event driver, a first event is detected in the examination procedure and reported to the event driver. When the first event is detected in the examination procedure, the use of the system component in the examination procedure is modified to a first type defined by the event driver.

A system and method for simultaneous multi-slice nuclear spin tomography is provided which requires no sensitivity profile of a receiving coil along a slice axis. A pulse space region to be sampled can be specified. A first pulse space dimension (k) can be assigned to a first phase-encoded axis and a second pulse space dimension (k) can be assigned to a second phase-encoded axis and the second phase-encoded axis corresponds to the slice axis. A sampling scheme can also be specified, and a complete sampled can be provided along the second pulse space dimension (k). A magnetic resonance scan can then be carried out within the pulse space region to be sampled based on the sampling scheme and respective phase-encodings of the first and second phase-encoded axis.

Method for ascertaining a deviation of at least one gradient field from a reference

Magnetic resonance (MR) data are acquired from a volume segment of an examination object and an MR image composed of multiple image pixels is reconstructed therefrom. For a magnetic field assumed to have been generated by the scanner, a summed field deviation is calculated, from which a respective displacement vector is calculated for each image pixel. A signal portion is assigned to each image pixel that has been displaced with the respective displacement vector from the respective image pixel. The summed field deviation is the sum of deviations caused by at least two of: non-linearities in gradient coils, Maxwell fields, field inhomogeneities independent of the gradients, and dynamic field disturbances.
