A magnetic actuator, which is used particularly for devices of internal combustion engines, includes a magnetic coil and at least one ferromagnetic component. In this instance, a magnetic flux caused by the magnetic coil is able to be guided via the component. On ferromagnetic component, a magnetic choke point is provided, which is used to adjust the magnetic flux. The magnetic choke point may be formed by a local microstructural modification of a ferromagnetic material of the ferromagnetic component. Furthermore, a valve having such a magnetic actuator and a method for producing such a magnetic actuator are indicated.

The invention relates to a protective device () for the laser machining of holes () in at least one component () by means of a laser beam (), wherein the protective device () is positionable in the beam direction downstream of the beam-exit-side end () of a hole () to be machined in the component wall (), in order to protect an adjoining rear space having a component wall (), opposite the hole (), of the component () from the incident laser beam. The protective device () according to the invention is formed from a composite made of a matrix composed of polyether ether ketone plastics material and fibers embedded therein, wherein the fibers are embedded such that, with respect to their particular fiber extending direction, they extend in a criss-cross manner in the plastics material and are distributed at approximately the same density in the volume of the plastics material of the protective device (). The fibers are configured as glass fibers or carbon fibers in order to split the laser beam () passing into the composite and to reduce the energy density thereof.
