Refiner segment

A refiner segment for a refiner of lignocellulosic material includes a first bar, a second bar, a first dam, and a second dam. The first bar has a width and includes a first bar weakening section. The first bar weakening section includes two planar faces defining a wedge-shaped recess with a tip and a base. The two planar faces meet at the tip. The tip is separated from the base by a depth. The depth is greater than or equal to half of the width and less than or equal to the width. The first dam extends between the first bar and the second bar. The second dam extends between the first bar and the second bar. The first bar, the second bar, the first dam, and the second dam define a first essentially box-shaped region. The first bar weakening section is positioned within the first essentially box-shaped region.

A refiner segment configured to be attached to a refiner disc in a refiner of lignocellulosic material includes: a plurality of bars extending in a direction from an inner periphery of the refiner segment towards an outer periphery of the refiner segment; a plurality of intermediate areas, each intermediate area disposed between adjacent bars of the plurality of bars and configured to separate each bar from an adjacent bar, wherein at least one of the intermediate areas includes: a channel region having a first side and extending a first depth into the refiner segment, and a ridge region connected to the first side of the channel region and extending a second depth into the refiner segment less than the first depth. A refiner plate that is adapted to be attached to a rotatable refiner disc on a refiner for mechanical treatment of lignocellulosic material. The refiner plate includes a refining surface that is adapted to be arranged oppositely a second refining surface of a second refiner disc on said refiner. The refining surface is provided with a plurality of refining bars, where at least one of the refining bars is provided with cavities that are at least partially embedded in the refining bars. At least one cavity provided on the at least one refining bar have one end arranged closer to the leading edge of a refining bar and one end arranged closer to the trailing edge of the refining bar and wherein the depth dimension of the cavity at the end is smaller than the depth dimension of the cavity at the end.

A refiner segment that includes a center area. The refiner segment includes a number N, N&#x2265;2, of bar zone that are arranged at different radial positions with regard to a radial direction R extending from the center area of the refiner disc towards the periphery of the refiner segment. Each of the bar zones are defined by a corresponding set of refining bars that are distributed angularly and encircles the center area. The refining bars belonging to different but neighboring bar zones are angularly offset and refining bars belonging to different but neighboring bar zones are arranged in such a way that a tangential direction of a particular refining bar belonging to a bar zone points in a direction towards the mid-point between two refining bars belonging to a neighboring bar zone.

Steam evacuation in a pulp or fiber refiner

A refiner segment for a refiner comprising refining zones provided with a pattern of bars arranged at a respective pumping feeding angle within a respective refining zone, and intermediate grooves between the bars, and dams extending between the bars and protruding above the surface of the grooves. The dams are arranged at least at the ends of at least some of the bars at the borders between the refining zones. Openings are formed at the borders between the refining zones, radially outside of the dams, where the openings are arranged such that a respective angle is formed between an imaginary line connecting the openings and a line which is perpendicular to a radius of the refiner segment, where the angle is directed towards the inner edge of the refiner segment, thereby allowing steam to pass through the openings and flow towards an inner edge of the refiner segment.

A center plate for a rotor in a pulp refiner has a surface provided with at least one feeding wing for directing lignocellulose-containing material towards a periphery. The feeding wing is an elongated protrusion arranged such that its second end is arranged further away from a center of the center plate than a first end and also is displaced relative to the first end in a direction opposite to a direction of rotation of the rotor. The center plate is also provided with at least one counter-feeding wing for directing steam flowing along the surface towards the center of the center plate. The counter-feeding wing is an elongated protrusion arranged such that a second end of the counter-feeding wing is arranged further away from the center of the center plate than a first end and closer to the center of the center plate than the first end.

A refiner segment () for a refiner () intended for refining fibrous material () has a refining surface and is arrangeable to form a part of a refining surface of a refiner element () in the refiner (). The refiner segment () is provided with a pattern of bars () and intermediate grooves () extending along the refiner segment () in a substantially radial direction, and dams () extending between the bars () and protruding above the surface of the grooves (). Steam channels () are arranged through the bars () adjacent to an intersection between a bar () and a dam (), radially outside of a respective dam () with respect to an inner edge () of the refiner segment (), and at a trailing end of the respective dam () with respect to a first circumferential direction corresponding to an intended travelling direction () of the refiner segment (), where the steam channels () are configured to allow steam () flowing towards the inner edge () of the refiner segment () to pass through the steam channels () in a direction having a component directed opposite to the first circumferential direction ().

A refiner segment for a refiner for defibrating has a refining surface comprising a group of first bars and second bars, each having a first end directed in the direction of an inlet zone and a second end directed in the direction of a refining zone, where the second ends of the first bars are interlaced with the first ends of the second bars to form first grooves between the first bars, and second grooves between the second bars. The second ends of the first bars have a guiding surface decreasing from an upper surface of the first bars down towards the bottom of the second grooves, and the first ends of the second bars have a guiding surface increasing from the bottom of the first grooves up to a top of the second bars, such that the guiding surfaces form an equalization groove.

Method and arrangement for fiber flow equalization in a refiner

A center plate for a rotor in a pulp refiner has a surface provided with at least one feeding wing for directing lignocellulose-containing material towards a periphery of the center plate. The at least one feeding wing is an elongated protrusion arranged such that its second end is arranged further away from a center of the center plate than a first end and is also displaced relative to the first end in a direction opposite to a direction of rotation of the rotor. The at least one feeding wing includes at least one opening allowing steam to flow through the opening in a direction having a component directed opposite to the direction of rotation.
