Component and optical element with antifogging properties

A device for receiving liquid samples includes at least one sample carrier () for receiving the liquid sample, a sample carrier ejector () and a sample carrier holder () with a first guiding area and a second guiding area () for guiding the sample carrier ejector (). The first guiding area () has a tubular design and the second guiding area () has a groove-shaped design. The sample carrier ejector () has a geometry complementary to the first and second guiding areas () and is axially displaceable within the sample carrier holder () such that the sample carrier () can be detached by the sample carrier ejector () from the sample carrier holder ().

Device for receiving liquid samples

Tempering of sample () in test strip () is carried out by temperature regulating unit () and heating/cooling unit (). The sample is fed to the test strip by a developer fluid () and a metering unit (). The result of the detection reaction becomes visible by a change in color (), which is detected optically and analyzed. The data of a control chart () with the measured values of first and second temperature sensors () are used to set the control parameters for tempering. Code () on the test sample holder () is read in a sequence of steps. Parameters for phases of the measurement are determined from measured values of first and second temperature sensors, values of the control chart and the code of the test sample holder. These parameters are used by the temperature regulating unit during the measurement.

Process for putting into operation and for operating a measuring device

A water trap () improved with respect to handling and operational safety includes: two semipermeable membranes () and at least one tank (), wherein the membranes have a water penetration pressure greater than 750 hPa and are made of the same or different PTFE laminates. The gas flow is divided in a ratio between 10:90 and 25:75 into the flush-/purge branch and analysis branch to the sensors () and a path parallel to the sensors (), respectively, with the aid of the membranes and downstream filter elements and via the material and configuration.

Water trap

A test cassette for the detection of analytes from fluid samples is provided which has a housing () with an inlet opening and with a reservoir for receiving a fluid sample containing the analyte. A separate carrier platform () can be horizontally displaced in the housing (), for fixing one or more flexible, strip-like, capillary-active detection elements. The carrier platform () in the housing () is designed such that the capillary-active detection elements are deflected from the longitudinal direction of the strips and dip into the fluid sample in the reservoir during a lateral motion of the carrier platform ().

Test cassette for fluid analyses

A device, process and system are provided for collecting and releasing a liquid sample, especially saliva. A defined saliva sample, i.e., a filtered, approximately homogeneously mixed saliva sample of a predetermined volume is made available in the simplest possible manner. A sampling tip () is provided made of a dimensionally stable and porous material, which is moved with its mouthpiece () in the mouth of a test subject for one to two minutes and takes up saliva based on the capillary action. A reagent liquid enters the pores of the sampling tip (), mixes with the saliva there and is subsequently fed from a reagent depot by the action of pressure. The saliva and the reagent liquid are finally discharged as a droplet () in the filtered and mixed state, either into the cavity () of the sample collector or into a filter mixer.

System for collecting and releasing saliva

A swab analyzer with advantageous handling and detection sensitivity for the immunochemical detection of substances. The analyzer has a housing, an eluent application zone (a swabbing pen ) and a reaction zone ( ). The housing ( ) has a local elevation with a central opening, from which a sampling and eluent application zone, designed as a porous swabbing pen ( ), projects. The local elevation is provided with an at least partially circular collection groove ( ) for receiving excess eluent. A window ( ) is present in the housing ( ) at a spaced location from the local elevation for evaluating the reaction zone ( ) placed under it. The sampling and eluent application zone as well as the reaction zone ( ) with the signal zones ( ) are in capillary fluid connection with one another.

Swab analyzer for the immunochemical detection of substances

A device is provided for taking swab samples and sample dilution. The device has a plug made of a porous, absorbent material, which projects from a sleeve and is used to take a swab sample. The plug is located in one end of the sleeve. A piston, which can be moved in the sleeve by means of a piston rod, is located in the other end of the sleeve. A closure, which can be opened by means of pressure, is located between the piston and the plug, so that a liquid arranged between the piston and the plug moves through the closure to the plug and wets same on actuation of the piston rod.

Device for taking swab samples and sample dilution

A process for detecting dust-associated substances wherein the dust to be analyzed is brought together with a solvent for eluting the substance to be detected from the dust. The particulate components are retained by means of a filter matrix while the solvent and the substances dissolved and/or suspended therein are transported through the filter matrix by capillary liquid transport. The solvent and the substances dissolved and/or suspended therein are transferred into a reaction matrix adjoining the filter matrix by capillary liquid transport. The substance to be detected is detected in the reaction matrix by means of a chemical and/or biochemical reaction or by the failure of a chemical and/or biochemical reaction to take place. A device for detecting dust-associated substances preferably contains, besides the filter matrix and the reaction matrix, a container for receiving the dust to be analyzed, wherein the container is in liquid connection with the filter matrix.

Process and device for detecting dust-associated substances

A process for enriching substance emissions released from an object in the form of gases, vapors or aerosols, wherein the substance emissions are fed to an adsorption layer by diffusion or penetration and are enriched in the adsorption layer. The substance emission of an object is selectively detected according to the present invention by the adsorption layer being fixed on the surface of the object emitting pollutant, which surface is to be analyzed, by means of an adhesive tape projecting over the adsorption layer on all sides to offer adhesive surfaces for application to the object and to hermetically seal the adsorption layer against the ambient air. A nondestructive adsorption system is also provided, with direct or immediately following analysis for the rapid qualitative and/or quantitative determination of pollutants (e.g., gases, vapors, dusts) by means of a chemical or biological reaction, in which, e.g., specific biomolecules for selectively converting or selectively binding the collected or enriched pollutants and a system for displaying or identifying this conversion and/or binding are used.

Process and device for enriching gas, vapor and/or aerosol emissions

Highly selective monoclonal antibodies for pyrethrins and pyrethroids which, in their function as pesticides, contain a phenoxybenzyl and/or a cyclopropane component. The number of pyrethroids which can be selectively detected is increased and the possibility of differentiating among the various pyrethrins, pyrethroids and their metabolites is possible. An easy-to-use test kit detects pyrethrins and pyrethroids. A conjugate of a metabolite of the pyrethrins/pyrethroids (especially permethric acid or phenoxybenzoic acid) is coupled as hapten to a carrier protein to obtain the immunogen, which is used for immunization and for the subsequent cloning of suitable hybridomas.

A unitary collection and displacement immunoassay device for determining a toxic substance adhered to aerosols in the air is provided. The device comprises an elongated body having proximal and distal ends and encloses a space defining a collection chamber, a reaction chamber and a measurement chamber, each chamber separated by a liquid flow barrier which delays liquid transport between chambers until a vacuum source is applied to the distal end of the test device to pull liquid into the next chamber. The collection chamber contains a solution for solubilizing the toxic substance from the aerosols and a semi-permeable means for separating the solubilized toxic substance from the aerosols. The reaction chamber contains a labelled immunoreactant bound to a solid phase carrier material. The labelled reagent can be displaced by the solubilized toxic substance. The measurement chamber contains a color generating system which reacts with displaced labelled reagent to produce a colored product in proportion to the concentration of the toxic substance.

Reaction vessel for immunological analysis of aerosols

The present invention pertains to a process for determining an analyte, especially a low-molecular-weight pollutant in a sample. It is carried out by partially dipping into the sample a test strip, on which antibodies which are specific for the analyte and to which in turn a tracer is bound, are immobilized. During the capillary migration of the sample through the test strip, the analyte partially displaces the tracer. The tracer that has remained on the antibody is subsequently visualized by, e.g., dyeing. The intensity of the dyeing is an indicator of the amount of analyte detected.
