The invention relates to an aqueous biocide composition, containing the following components: (a) 9 wt. % to 20 wt. % 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, (b) a dissolved alkalizing agent, containing 0.95 to 1.05 mol sodium and potassium hydroxide, each based on one mol of the 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one present as component (a), and (c) more than 60 wt. % water. The biocide composition is characterized in that the composition: (i) has a pH value in the range of pH 9.5 to pH 11.9, and (ii) the molar fraction of sodium ions, based on the sodium and potassium ions present in the composition, is in the range of 15 to 45 mol %. The invention furthermore relates to the use of these biocide compositions for preserving water-based products of all kinds, such as cleaning and household products, plastic dispersions, paints, plasters, adhesives, sealing compounds, paper coating compounds, textile softening and sizing agents, detergent base materials, surfactants, polishing agents, spinning baths, cooling lubricants, leather treatment agents, and silicone and bitumen emulsions.

Aqueous 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one concentrates

The invention relates to a biocidal composition containing 5-chlorine-2-methylisothiazolin-3-one and at least one other component selected from the group consisting of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, 2-bromine-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol and zinc. The claimed biocidal composition is characterized in that it contains methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one in the region of between 0-2 wt. %, in relation to the total proportion of 5-chlorine-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-ones. The invention also relates to the use of the claimed biocidal compositions for conserving technical products.

Synergistic biocidal compositions containing 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazolin-3-one

The invention relates to a method for reducing microbial attack of products in the context of which 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one having a content of 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one in the range from 0 to 2 wt % based on the total proportion of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one is employed and in a subsequent method Step at least largely decomposed. The method according to the invention is further characterized in that in a further method Step at least one further component for post-preservation of the products is employed.

Method for reducing microbial attack of industrial products

The present invention relates to a method for producing a coating agent, such as a paint or a plaster, having a 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolone content in the range from 0 to 1 ppm, using components which would introduce in total more than 1.5 ppm of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolone into the coating agent. The method comprises the steps: a) decomposing the 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolone present in the components of the coating agent with the help of at least one 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolone-decomposing compound, such that the content of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolone is in a range from 0 to 1 ppm over the course of a period of less than 24 hours, b) mixing the individual constituents of the coating agent, not definitively selected from the group comprising water, binder, pigment, wetting agent, thickener, thixotropic agent, pH regulating compounds, fillers and dispersants, and c) adding at least one preservative selected from the group consisting of 2-methylisothiazolin-3-one, 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, N-methyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and 2-n-octylisothiazolin-3-one.

Method for producing a coating agent

A biocide composition, comprising 2-methylisothiazolin-3-one as a biocidal active ingredient and at least one further biocidal active ingredient, as an additive to materials capable of being attacked by harmful microorganisms, wherein the composition comprises a pyrithione as the further biocidal active ingredient.

Synergistic biocide composition comprising 2-methylisothiazoline-3-one

The invention relates to compounds from the groups of (A) electrophiles, (B) nucleophiles, (C) alkylating agents, (D) antioxidants and (E) oxidizing agents as odor preventatives for reducing so-called ghost odor which is induced by 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and/or octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one. The invention further relates to biocide compositions which comprise 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and/or octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and also one or more odor preventatives, and to the use of odor preventatives for preventing ghost odor.

Compounds for preventing ghost odour

The invention relates to a coating material for protection against microorganism invasion on surfaces which are exposed to the effects of damp or water. The coating material has either a pH-value of at least 11.0 or is provide with a base material for the coating whereby the pH-value is at least 11. The coating material is characterized in that it contains a biocide which bonds to solid particles in a carrier material and is released in a delayed manner therefrom.

The invention relates to a biocidal composition which can be added to materials which can be attacked by harmful micro-organisms, containing pyrithione as a biocidal active ingredient. The biocidal composition is characterised in that it contains 2-alkyl isothiazoline-3-one as another biocidally active ingredient. The active ingredients of the biocidal composition behave synergistically and are ideally suitable for controlling bacteria, fungus and algae.

A biocide composition is provided as an addition to substances that can be infected by harmful microorganisms, in which the biocide composition has at least two active biocidal substances, one of which is 2-methylisothiazolin-3-one. The composition is characterized in that it contains 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, compositions containing 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazolin-3-one being excluded. In comparison with its individual components, the composition of the invention has a synergistic biocidal activity.
