The present invention relates to a method of producing porous alpha-SiC containing shaped body and porous alpha-SiC containing shaped body produced by that method. The porous alpha-SiC containing shaped body shows a characteristic microstructure providing a high degree of mechanical stability.

The present invention relates to a composition comprising a non-oxide silicon containing component, a water soluble phosphate component, a metal oxide ceramic component, a polysaccharide component and water to 100% w/w. An apparatus to measure spatially resolved the luminescence of a semiconductor sample, in particular a semiconductor wafer or any part thereof, includes a rotatable sample holder for the semiconductor sample. This rotatable sample holder is mounted on an xy stage, and a drive mechanism is used to rotate the sample holder rapidly during the measurement. A device excites luminescence light on the semiconductor sample, and an optical device guides a portion of the luminescence light to a detector. The surface of the semiconductor sample is located in the range of a focal point of the optical device. Using a fixation device, it is possible to remove the rotatable sample holder from the xy stage, when required, and to replace it by a cryostat with an optical window and a further semiconductor sample, so that the surface of the further semiconductor sample is essentially located in the focus point of optical device.

Described is an additional filter element for a filter apparatus for reducing emissions from a motor vehicle tank venting system. The additional filter element is connected to a main activated carbon filter and has adsorbents which, to achieve a high working capacity, in particular at 42&#xb0; C., has a high micropore volume. To retain a residual loading possibly present in the micropores the adsorbents further have a mesopore volume. The micropore volume is at least 0.4 cm/g and the mesopore volume is at a maximum 0.95 cm/g.

In a method for photo-electrochemical etching of a semiconductor sample, the semiconductor sample is brought in contact with an electrolyte liquid. The contact area formed thereby is illuminated through the electrolyte liquid with UV light. The photo-current created by UV light irradiation at the contact area is measured. To increase the etching quality, a jet of fresh electrolyte liquid is repeatedly applied to the contact area. A device for carrying out the method includes a container to be filled with an electrolyte liquid, a UV source for illuminating the semiconductor sample with UV light through the electrolyte liquid, and a measuring instrument for measuring the photo-current created during UV light irradiation of the contact area. Further provided are an inlet for supplying fresh electrolyte liquid, directed towards the semiconductor sample, and a device attached to the inlet for repeated production of electrolyte fluid jets, directed towards the semiconductor sample.
