A method and apparatus for producing fiber yarn is provided. The novel apparatus includes a first transportation and pressing element () and a second transportation and pressing element () arranged adjacent to the first transportation and pressing element () as well as elements for driving the transportation and pressing elements (). The first and second transportation and pressing elements () are arranged to form a nip therebetween. The apparatus also includes a nozzle () for feeding fiber suspension (), such as pulp fiber suspension, to the nip between the first and second transportation and pressing elements ().
