An arrangement and a computer program product are provided for determining body surface characteristics. An arrangement includes an acquisition unit configured to detect body surface features by Multiple Spatially Resolved Reflection Spectroscopy (MSRRS) in a wavelength range between about 300 nm and about 1500 nm; a data storage unit to interrogate data using the characteristics; and a user interface comprising an output unit, wherein the user interface is configured to interact with a user. Further, the arrangement includes a portable computing unit configured for: interacting with a user and for evaluating the features and for determining the characteristics based on the features; obtaining from the data storage unit features of treatment products and/or application instructions for non-therapeutic treatment of a body surface according to the characteristics; and instructing the output unit to output information on the treatment products and/or application instructions to a user.

Arrangement for determining body surface properties by means of Multiple Spatially Resolved Reflection Spectroscopy (MSRRS)

The present disclosure concerns an in-vitro full skin model which comprises a dermal equivalent and epidermal equivalent as well as from about 1 to about 100 three-dimensional sweat gland equivalents with respectively from about 500 to about 500000 sweat gland cells as well as a diameter of respectively from about 100 to about 6000 &#x3bc;m on a supporting layer. Furthermore, the present disclosure concerns the production of the full skin model as well as the use of this model as an in-vitro model, in screening methods as well as for in-vitro evaluation of the influence of cosmetic substances on the inhibition of sweat secretion as well as body odor.

A method, system, and computer readable storage medium for determining a glossiness value of a skin of a user are provided. In an embodiment, a polarized light having a property value is emitted from a portable light source towards the portion of the skin of the user. The portable light source is coupled to a handheld device. The polarized light is cast on the portion of the skin of the user from the portable light source. Reflected light reflected from the portion of the skin of the user is measured using a sensor coupled to the handheld device. The reflected light has a property value. A ratio between the property values of the emitted polarized light and the measured reflected light is determined using a processor of the handheld device. The glossiness value of the portion of the skin of the user is determined based on the determined ratio.

The present disclosure relates to a method for improving the culture conditions of cultures of primary sweat gland cells and/or three-dimensional sweat gland equivalents, where the culture with from about 500 to about 500,000 sweat gland cells and a diameter of from about 100 to about 6,000 nm is initially prepared and then cultivated in a culture medium with neurotransmitters and/or from about 11 to about 100 ng/ml of at least one growth factor. Cultivation of these cells and models in a culture medium containing at least one neurotransmitter and/or from about 11 to about 100 ng/ml of at least one growth factor leads to an increase of sweat-gland-specific marker proteins. As a result, a loss of function, which occurs with an absence of or only low expression of these markers, can be avoided.
