A vehicle braking system () has a primary braking unit () with a first pressure generating unit () and a first reservoir (). The vehicle braking system () further has a secondary braking unit () with a second pressure generating unit () and second reservoir (). A method of operating the vehicle braking system () includes actuating the pressure generating unit () of the primary braking unit () thereby pressurizing a fluid at a wheel cylinder () to slow or stop the vehicle. The wheel cylinder () is depressurized in response to an electrical signal provided to an electronic control unit (). The fluid is transferred from the wheel cylinder () to the second reservoir (). The fluid path (PI) between the wheel cylinder () and the second reservoir () is shorter and has less fluid resistance than the fluid path (P) between the wheel cylinder () and the first reservoir (). The present invention further comprises two braking systems. The present inventions are intended for fast pressure depressurization at quick start or launch control.

Vehicle braking system

A vehicle braking system includes a master cylinder, and a wheel cylinder. A primary braking unit includes a first pressure generating unit distinct from the master cylinder and is operable to actuate a braking action at the wheel cylinder in a primary mode of operation. The primary braking unit further includes an outlet port connecting the primary braking unit to the wheel cylinder. A secondary braking unit includes a second pressure generating unit distinct from the master cylinder and operable to actuate a braking action at the wheel cylinder in a secondary mode of operation. The secondary braking unit an inlet port connected to the outlet port of the primary braking unit. The primary braking unit includes one or more ABS valves operable to control traction control and anti-lock braking in the primary mode of operation and located between the first pressure generating unit and the outlet port of the primary braking unit. The secondary braking unit is located between the one or more ABS valves and the wheel cylinder.

A solenoid valve for controlling the braking pressure of a wheel brake of a slip-controllable hydraulic brake system of a motor vehicle includes an armature, a valve insert, a valve seat, a valve element, and a spring device. The valve element is arranged in the valve insert in a longitudinally displaceable manner and acts together with the valve seat. The spring applies a force acting in the direction of opening with respect to the valve seat to the valve element in the installed position. The valve element can be actuated by an electromagnetic actuator in the closing direction with respect to the valve seat. The valve element is arranged between an anchor and the valve seat and is operatively connected to the anchor. A front face of the valve element facing the anchor has at least one projection and the projection defines a point of contact with the anchor.

A non-return valve for a solenoid valve includes a non-return valve seat and a movable closure element. The valve seat is arranged at an edge of a fluid channel. The movable closure element is configured to carry out a direction-orientated throughflow and sealing function. The closure element includes a sealing cone, an abutment base, and a resilient sealing ring. The sealing ring is arranged between the abutment base and the sealing cone. The abutment base forms, in the event of sealing, a support face for the resilient sealing ring. At an edge of the non-return valve seat there is a first support face which in the event of sealing forms with a second support face which is formed at the outer edge of the abutment base in the direction of the non-return valve seat a mechanical axial stop for the movable closure element.
