Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a method for determining bids for campaigns. The method comprises receiving an indication from a sponsor to create a video campaign and presenting a user interface for the sponsor to designate a goal for the video campaign. The goal is expressed in terms of a balance between maximizing any views versus engaged views. Engaged views arise when a user indicates their desire to view a video content item or where the user performs one or more actions related to the video content item while or after viewing the video content item. The method further comprises receiving a sponsor selection of a goal, receiving a maximum bid to be applied to all video campaign formats, automatically determining an adjusted maximum bid for each format based on the maximum bid and sponsor goal selection, and storing the campaign.

Format-specific bids based on goal-oriented targeting of content

The subject matter of this specification can be implemented in, among other things, a method that includes receiving, by a processing device, one or more first content items for one or more first user accounts of a content sharing system. The method further includes storing the first content items at the content sharing system. The method further includes receiving, by the processing device, a second content item for a second user account of the content sharing system. The method further includes comparing, by the processing device, the received second content item to the stored first content items to determine that the second content item is not exclusive to the second user account. The method further includes restricting a privilege of the second user account for the second content item in response to the determination that the second content item is not exclusive to the second user account.

Preventing abuse in content sharing system

An identification system receives a request from a user device to identify a video captured in a video stream. The identification system identifies a display area captured in the video stream in which the video is displayed. The identification system identifies content include in the display area throughout the stream. Based on the identified content, the identification system creates a fingerprint for the video. The identification system identifies from a plurality of stored fingerprints at least one fingerprint similar to the created fingerprint. The identification system identifies video information associated with the similar fingerprint. The video information is transmitted to the user device and displayed as being video information about the video captured in the stream.

Identification of captured videos

A method for promoting preferred content in a search query is disclosed. The method includes obtaining a search result set of content items from a corpus of content items, the search result set responsive to a search query and comprising a rank of the content items, identifying content items in the search result set, the identified content items comprising at least a preferred content item uploaded by a user, adjusting, by a processing device, a position of the preferred content item with respect to a position of a claimed content item in the rank of the content items within the search result set, the claimed content item claimed by the user.

Promoting preferred content in a search query

A media sharing system identifies fingerprints that represent an uploaded video and generates a digest based on the fingerprints. The media sharing system searches for digests of previously processed videos whose digests match the digest of the uploaded video. A previously processed video whose digest matches the digest of the uploaded video is identified as a matching video. For each matching video, the media sharing system retrieves policy information that describes whether the video was found to violate one or more policies of the media sharing system. The media sharing system determines whether to halt processing of the uploaded video based on the retrieved policy information.
