A system includes a laser scanner system. The system includes a scanner laser to generate an optical scanning beam. The system also includes a spindle assembly comprising a spindle that extends along an axis and reflects the optical scanning beam. The system also includes a beam detector to receive the reflected optical scanning beam from the single facet and to indicate when to generate a latent image corresponding to an image based on the optical scanning beam for a given scan operation. The system further includes a scan controller to control the scanner laser such that the optical scanning beam is reflected from only a single facet of the spindle during the given scan operation.

The key device includes a transmitter configured to transmit a signal comprising component identification characteristics. A data storage module for a high density data storage device. The storage module includes a planar rotor having top, bottom, left and right edges. The rotor is suspended within a frame surrounding the top, bottom, left and right edges of the rotor. The rotor is suspended by a plurality of flexures, wherein the flexures adjacent to the top edge are aligned with the top edge, the flexures adjacent to the bottom edge are aligned with the bottom edge, the flexures adjacent the left edge are aligned with the left edge, and the flexures adjacent to the right edge are aligned with the right edge.

High density data storage module

The invention includes a plurality of first electrical pads which are supported on a first object which is configured to be supported in a first position, and a plurality of second electrical pads which are supported on a second object which is configured to be supported in a second position and adjacent to the first object. The first electrical pads are configured to electrically contact the second electrical pads while the objects are supported in the respective positions so as to electrically connect the objects together. Each of the objects is configured to be removed from the respective first and second positions by movement along parallel paths of movement in a first direction and are configured to be installed in the respective positions by movement along the paths in a second direction which is opposite the first direction. Furthermore, each object is configured to be installed into, or removed from, its respective supported position while the other object remains supported in its respective position. Either object can be installed into, or removed from, its respective position in any sequence.

A data storage module for a data storage device has a rotor having a plurality of storage areas for data storage, the storage areas each being in one of a plurality of states to represent the data stored in that area. A first set of flexures suspends the rotor within a first frame and permits the rotor to move in a first direction. A first comb drive is connected to the rotor and the first frame for moving the rotor in the first direction. A second set of flexures suspends the first frame within a second frame and permits the first frame to move in a second direction normal to the first direction. Methods and apparatus for preventing the accidental or premature decoupling of an electrical connection, the electrical connection having two electrical connectors which can be coupled and decoupled. The invention includes a securing apparatus configured to secure the coupling of a first electrical connector to a compatible second electrical connector. The apparatus includes a moveable securing member. The moveable securing member is configured to be moved from a first position which prevents the first and second electrical connectors from being decoupled, to a second position which allows the first and second electrical connectors to be decoupled. The apparatus further includes an actuator configured to move the securing member between the first and second positions. The actuator is responsive to an authorization command, so that a user or a controller can cause the securing member to be moved. The securing apparatus can be further provided with a securing member sensor. The securing member sensor is configured to detect when the securing member is in the first or the second position, and to generate a position signal in response thereto. The position signal can be used by an operator or a controller to determine whether or not the electrical connectors can be physically decoupled.

An apparatus for electrically connecting two objects together includes a first object which has a first connective surface defined thereon, and a plurality of first electrical pads supported on the first connective surface. A second object has a second connective surface defined thereon which supports a plurality of second electrical pads configured to contact the first electrical pads. The first and second objects are configured to be electrically connected to each other by movement of the first object relative to the second object in a given direction and along a continuous path of movement which is substantially parallel to the first connective surface. The apparatus further includes an alignment member which is movably supported on the second object and which is configured to engage the second object when moved so as to substantially align the first electrical pads with the second electrical pads in order to facilitate contact there between.
