A handle for use with a container such as a flexible bag structure. The handle includes first and second handle members that reinforce each other as the handle is grasped to manipulate the bag structure.

Tape handle for a container and method for construction thereof

An apparatus is provided for forming a tape handle for a box. The apparatus comprises a mechanism for applying to a box a strip of box sealing tape that has an adhesive side and a back side. A strip of handle tape having an adhesive side and a back side and a strip of deadening material are supplied by the apparatus and combined so that the deadening strip is positioned on the adhesive side of the handle tape to thereby form a handle assembly having first and second adhesive sections and an intermediate masked section. The apparatus then brings the handle assembly and the box sealing tape into engagement to adhere the first and second adhesive sections of the handle assembly to the back side of the box sealing tape, and the box sealing tape is then adhered to the box.

Tape handle for carrying boxes

A handle for use with an object. The handle is attached to the object in a generally flush manner, but may be expanded to a position for manual engagement to manipulate the object.

Flexible handle for an object and method for construction therefor

An apparatus is provided for forming a tape handle for a box. The apparatus comprises a mechanism for applying to a box a strip of box sealing tape that has an adhesive side and a back side. A strip of handle tape having an adhesive side and a back side and a strip of deadening materials are supplied by the apparatus and combined so that the deadening strip is positioned on the adhesive side of the handle tape to thereby form a handle assembly having first and second adhesive sections and an intermediate masked section. The apparatus then brings the handle assembly and the box sealing tape into engagement to adhere the first and second adhesive sections of the handle assembly to the back side of the box sealing tape, and the box sealing tape is then adhered to the box.

Method and apparatus for forming a tape handle

Devices for deforming tape backings and which thereby impart a curl to adhesive tapes are described. One type of device comprises means whereby a tape backing is deformed as the tape is bent back upon itself at an angle as it detaches from a roller to which it has been adhered. An alternative type of device comprises means whereby a tape backing is deformed as the tape is deformed into grooves on a fluted roller.

Devices for imparting curl to tapes

Adhesive tapes which exhibit curl as the result of deformation of the backings of the tapes are described. The tapes may exhibit various curls including transverse and longitudinal curls and are particularly suitable for sealing preformed openings in container ends without concomitant entrapment of air between a given tape segment and the container end.

Curled tape, roll, and container end

An adhesive dispensing and applying device is disclosed suitable for applying lengths of adhesive onto an article from a convolutely wound roll of transfer adhesive disposed on a liner and convolutely wound about a core. The device has an applicating roller mounted in the forward portion of a housing. A tape support, rotatably mounted in the housing engages the core of the roll in an interlocking engagement and holds the axis of the core in a parallel spaced relationship to the axis of the applicating roller. Thus, the adhesive and liner are held in alignment with respect to the surface of the applicating roller. A takeup roller mounted in the housing receives and holds spent liner after the adhesive has been applied to the substrate. Means associated with the tape support transmit rotational motion from the tape support to the takeup roller so that when the tape support is rotated by unwinding the adhesive, the takeup roller is simultaneously rotated in the opposite direction. Brake means associated with the device can be activated to stop rotation of the support and thereby the adhesive whereby the adhesive applied to the substrate will be severed from the adhesive remaining in the device as the device is moved.
