An orientationally adjustable marking syringe provides automatic loading of medicine from a medicine source to the syringe. Actuation of the handles of the syringe simultaneously discharges or injects the contents of the syringe and a marking substance such as ink contained in an ink dispenser integrally attached to the marking syringe by a pivoting ink carriage. The pivoting ink carriage can be pivoted about the syringe to better accommodate the ergonomic desires of the user and the objectives of the injection.

A tamper-proof electronic animal identification tag comprising an antenna card carrying an antenna and a stud carrying a data transmission chip is disclosed. The stud is unidirectionally flexible, and can only be inserted into the antenna card one time and in one direction. Insertion of the stud into the antenna card creates an electrical contact between the data transmission chip and the antenna, extending the communicative range of the data transmission chip.

A syringe has a sensor for sensing physical contact between a syringe needle and the syringe. As the sensor detects that a syringe needle has just been installed into the syringe, a counter is set to &ldquo;zero&rdquo;, indicating the number of injections given with the installed needle. The counter automatically and cumulatively counts each injection given to the animal during a period of continuous physical contact between the syringe and the syringe needle. When the number of cumulatively counted injections equals a predetermined maximum number of injections, a syringe needle change warning mechanism delivers a needle change warning to the operator of the syringe.

A system and method for automatic recordation of information relating to administration of medicines to animals are accomplished by a transmitting syringe simultaneously injecting and marking an animal while transmitting, responsive to actuation of the transmitting syringe, a first signal containing information relating to the actuation of the transmitting syringe and the resulting injection of the animal. An electronic identification device (EID) such as a bolus, ear tag or subcutaneous implant is attached to the animal and provides a unique electronic identification of the animal. A receiver receives both the first signal from the transmitting syringe and the electronic identification of the animal, as provided by the EID. Information contained in the respective signals is maintained in a computer database for review and analysis.

System and method for automatically recording animal injection information

A marking syringe which allows an individual using the syringe to inject a fluid such as a vaccine into an animal and, at the same time, mark the location of the injection on the animal. More specifically, the marking syringe includes a vaccine syringe and an ink dispenser connected to a handle. Activation of the handle simultaneously activates the vaccine syringe and the ink dispenser. The vaccine syringe is connected to a source of vaccine and a source of ink is provided. After connection of the vaccine and ink sources, the syringe needle is inserted into the animal and a syringe handle is actuated. As the handle is actuated, a vaccine syringe and an ink dispenser both discharge their contents. The position of the ink dispenser relative to the vaccine syringe is such that the discharged ink marks the animal in the approximate location of the vaccine injection.

The present invention relates to an vaccine pack (10) which comprises an insulated container (12) having an automatic syringe (18) and a plurality of needle holders (20) attached thereto. A strap (14) having a strap first fastener (14A) is securely attached at one distal end to the container (12). A strap second fastener (14B) is securely fastened to the the container (12) such that the strap (14) can loop around an over a member and removably attach to the strap second fastener (14B) thereby positioning the vaccine pack (10) underneath the member away from direct sunlight.
