The technologies described herein are generally directed to mapping signal propagation using idle mode user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include, facilitating receiving, a message from a user equipment, with the message including signal information describing detection of a signal of a carrier of base station equipment while the user equipment was in an idle mode at a first location. The method can further include identifying a second location of the base station equipment corresponding to a time when the signal was transmitted, wherein the second location is different from the first location. Further, the method can include based on the first location, the second location, and the signal information, estimating a path loss of the carrier at the first location.

Estimating signal propagation based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode

The technologies described herein are generally directed to generating a propagation model based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include, based on a first location in a geographic area of a signal measurement measured by a user equipment in an idle mode, and a transmission location of the signal, estimating an estimated first path loss value. The method can further include, based on the estimated first path loss value and a second path loss value of a second carrier signal received from the carrier signal source, determining an antenna pattern of the carrier signal source. Further, the method can include based on the antenna pattern, generating a propagation model for the carrier signal source.

Generating a propagation model based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode

The technologies described herein are generally directed to providing radio resources to facilitate a predicted transition to active mode by idle user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include predicting that a user equipment of a group of user equipment in an idle mode will transition to an active mode during a time duration. The method can further include, identifying base station equipment that are able to provide coverage to the group of user equipment during the time duration. Further, the method can include, based on predicting the user equipment will transition to active mode, prioritizing allocation among the base station equipment, of resources to provide coverage to facilitate an active mode connection by the user equipment to the base station equipment.

Allocating resources among communication cells based on a potential communication load of user equipment in idle mode

The technologies described herein are generally directed to providing, based on a paging message, radio resources to facilitate a transition to active mode by idle user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include identifying an idle mode activation message. The method can further include, based on the activation message, predicting that the user device is going to request an active connection. Further, the method can include prioritizing allocation of antenna resources to the user device over different user devices in an idle state, based on a prediction that the user device will transition to an active state before the different user devices. Further, the method can include, based on the prioritizing, directing a base station to cause a beamformed signal to a predicted location of the user device to accept the active connection.

Facilitating transition to active mode by an idle device based on an activation request

The technologies described herein are generally directed to providing radio resources to facilitate a predicted transition to active mode by idle user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include predicting that a user equipment of a group of user equipment in an idle mode will transition to an active mode after passage of a time duration, starting from the predicting, that is lower than a time threshold. The method can further include identifying base station equipment that is able to provide coverage to the user equipment during the passage of the time duration before the user equipment transitions to the active mode. Further, the method can include prioritizing allocation of, within the group of user equipment, an antenna resource of the base station equipment to provide the coverage to facilitate an active mode connection by the user equipment to the base station equipment.

Allocating radio resources to idle user equipment that was predicted to transition to active mode

The technologies described herein are generally directed to preparing for a connection with a user equipment while the user equipment is in an idle state in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. For example, a method described herein can include facilitating transmitting a signal directed by an antenna of base station equipment. The method can further include, facilitating receiving, from a user equipment, a message, wherein the message comprises feedback information describing receipt of the signal while the user equipment was in an idle mode at a location. Further, the method can comprise, based on the feedback information and the location, generating a model of signal propagation applicable to signals at the location.

Allocating antenna resources to prepare for idle equipment to transition to active mode

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a preliminary transmission received from a first wireless access terminal of a wireless network, at a mobile terminal, wherein the obtaining of the preliminary transmission occurs before a successful completion of an attachment process between the mobile terminal and the first wireless access terminal, and wherein access to a network resource by the mobile terminal via the wireless network requires a successful completion of the attachment process. A physical relationship is determined between the mobile terminal and the first wireless access terminal according to the preliminary transmission, resulting in a determined physical relationship. The determined physical relationship is compared to a predetermined threshold value to obtain a comparison result and successful completion of the attachment process is prevented based on the comparison result indicating a suspect condition. Other embodiments are disclosed.

System and method for avoiding signal spoofing attacks in wireless broadband networks

A more efficient network can be achieved using channel allocation strategies within a wireless network. A network device can receive several data points from a mobile device including resource request data, access condition data, and location data. Once the network device has received the aforementioned data points, the network device can identify channels that are conducive to a heightened quality of service for a resource being requested based on a signal attenuation associated with the channel. The network device can then facilitate a channel selection in response to an assessment of the data points and identifying a channel for the resource.

Facilitation of channel selection within a wireless network

Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for facilitating uplink interference avoidance. According an embodiment, a system can comprise receiving a request to adjust an uplink power limit of a first communication device that is generating an uplink interference above a threshold and a power adjustment value employable to adjust the uplink power limit of the first communication device. The system can further facilitate identifying a packet flow in an uplink communication with the first communication device, wherein use of the packet flow results in generating of the uplink interference above the threshold. The system can further facilitate determining whether the uplink power limit of the first communication device is able to be adjusted based on a quality of service allocated to the packet flow. The system can further facilitate transmitting a message to update the uplink power limit of the first communication device using the power adjustment value.

Uplink interference avoidance under closed loop power control conditions

Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for facilitating uplink interference avoidance. According an embodiment, a system can comprise identifying network node devices and communication devices operating within a boundary located adjacent to an external system. The system can comprise determining communication settings of the communication devices that are engaged in an uplink session with the network node devices. The system can comprise estimating a total uplink interference into the external system based on a propagation model and an uplink power control value determined from the communication settings. The system can comprise in response to determining that the total uplink interference is greater than a defined value and in response to determining that the network node devices employed an open loop power control, requesting the network node devices to initiate an update to an uplink power limit (e.g., facilitate uplink power reduction) of the communication devices engaged in the uplink session with the network node devices.

Uplink interference avoidance under open loop power control conditions

Traffic associated with user equipment that are coupled to a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on an adaptable signal strength criterion. The signal strength criterion is related to real-time network load conditions of the first radio access network and can be broadcasted from a serving access point to the user equipment. Moreover, the signal strength criterion facilitates steering, to the second radio network, traffic associated with user equipment that are located closer to a cell edge of the first radio access network before steering traffic associated with user equipment are located further away from the cell edge. In addition, based on the network congestion within the first radio access network, the signal strength criterion is modified to adjust the number of user equipment that are steered to the second radio network.

Cell broadcast for smart traffic steering across radio technologies with improved radio efficiency

Traffic associated with user equipment that are served by a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on a cell user occupancy criterion. Cell user occupancy data that represents a maximum number of devices served by an access point is determined based on a type of the access point, e.g., macro access point, femto access point, WiFi access point, etc. Further, based on the cell user occupancy data, a normalized index value is generated that is relative to different cell types/capacities. The cell user occupancy data is then transmitted to one or more neighboring access points that can utilize the cell user occupancy data to facilitate traffic steering, load balancing, and/or neighbor relationship management.

Cell user occupancy indicator to enhance intelligent traffic steering

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a triggering event based on a monitoring of utilization of a target cell within a cellular network system. A configuration policy including a handover configuration parameter set is determined, responsive to the triggering event. A target cell of a plurality of neighboring cells of the source cell is identified and a handover procedure of a user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is configured based on the handover configuration parameter set. The source cell provides the handover configuration parameter set to the user equipment connected to the source cell. The user equipment, while connected to the source cell, performs handover measurements from the source cell to the target cell based on the handover configuration parameter set, and a handover of the user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is based on the handover measurements. Other embodiments are disclosed.
