A food slicer includes a frame for supporting a landing and a runway movable relative to the landing. A cutting blade is secured on an upstream end of the landing. A downstream end of the runway is spaced from an edge of the cutting blade. A separate cutting knife is moveably connected to the frame. An adjustment mechanism connected to the frame adjusts an offset between the cutting blade and the runway. The adjustment mechanism includes spaced apart first and second guide tracks provided on respective first and second movable side members. The guide tracks are configured such that a first movement of the adjustment mechanism moves the downstream end of the runway relative to the cutting blade to adjust a cutting thickness and a second movement of the adjustment mechanism lowers the downstream end of the runway and raises the cutting knife to a working position.

A pivoting hand tool is provided including handle structures which control the relative angular position of pivotable arms to allow disassembly and reassembly and to prevent accidental disassembly during use. Handle structures includes an elastic interference portion which provides a first interference between the first arm and second arm at the predetermined angle to prevent angular displacement of the arms from exceeding a first predetermined angle until a disassembly pivoting force is applied to the first arm and the second arm.

An improved cellular flooring service distribution system is disclosed comprising a cellular flooring unit in which a dividing means provides a plurality of open parallel conduits in a single valley of a corrugated sheet, an overlying trench providing a plurality of transversely oriented parallel passageways which have access to said conduits and an isolating means to selectively isolate at least one conduit and passageway from the remaining conduits and passageways. Cover means and access housings are also provided. Since the above components do not require any special fabrication, they can be efficiently and cheaply mass produced, preferably from sheet metal. Service lines may be placed in open conduits and passageways prior to covering to eliminate the need for feeding the lines through enclosed cells. Since no base plate is required on the corrugated sheets, less material is used than with conventional units, the sheet can be compactly nested to facilitate shipping and handling and fire resistance is increased. Fire resistance is further increased by allowing concrete to flow beneath the trench into the undivided valleys of the sheet. Various embodiments of the general concept are disclosed.

A trenchless underfloor conduit system for distribution of electrical conductors, service lines and the like is disclosed. One or more spaced-apart duct members of reduced height dimension are placed over a corrugated deck. Covers are provided over selected valleys of the corrugated deck to provide at least one enclosed deck conduit extending transversely with respect to the ducts. Openings are provided in the deck conduit and overlying duct member to allow for communication therebetween. A substantially uninterrupted layer of concrete is provided over the deck and duct members and is secured to underlying supporting beams. The layer of concrete preferably has a minimum thickness of about two inches and is secured to the beams to increase the overall strength of the floor by utilizing a composite design without increasing the overall thickness or reducing the service line capacity thereof.
