A flush mountable electrical apparatus, according to an example, includes an electrical apparatus including a junction box having an open end, an electrical device positioned within the junction box, and a first cover plate to cover the open end of the junction box. The flush mountable electrical apparatus further includes a second cover plate attached to the first cover plate, and a mounting plate to be mounted over a recess in a mounting surface. The mounting plate includes a first opening sized to allow the electrical apparatus to be inserted through the first opening and into the recess. The second cover plate is configured to be attached to the mounting plate to secure the electrical apparatus in position within the recess.

Flush mountable electrical apparatus

A light fixture sign includes a sign message structure including letter-shaped structures. The light fixture sign includes an illumination source to generate light to be projected through a front surface of the letter-shaped structures. The light fixture sign includes at least one reflective mirror having a first surface attached over a back surface of the letter-shaped structures and a reflective surface opposite the first surface to reflect light.

A concealed light fixture sign includes a flange having stencil openings formed therein that define a message. A container extends from a rear surface of the flange and provides light through the stencil openings. The container is configured to be installed completely within a recess behind a mounting surface with the flange positioned substantially flush with the mounting surface. Translucent inserts positioned within the stencil openings are removable to provide access to an interior of the container after installation of the light fixture sign.

A presence detector unit (PDU) of the type relying on microwave radiation provides a signal indicating movement within a defined space when such movement occurs. A source of microwave radiation within a housing projects a beam of microwave radiation directed through a side of the housing to suffuse at least a portion of the defined space. A detector within the housing senses changes in microwave radiation reflected back toward the detector. An adjustable beam occlusion structure is supported by the housing and blocks a portion of the microwave radiation emanating from the source and through the side of the housing.

A safety unit for mounting in a wall defining a part of a building space has a tubular housing containing an emergency load such as a light sized to fit within the housing, said emergency load including a base and a light-emitting element. An actuator mechanism such as a motor carried on the housing provides force to the base responsive to electrical power to translate the base to deploy the emergency load within the building space. A preferred embodiment includes a cover and a cover-operating mechanism receiving force from the actuator to remove the cover as the load deploys.

Extending emergency light with a recessed, covered storage cavity

An emergency power system for operation during loss of power on power mains comprises a spring-driven energy storage unit (ESU) and a generator. The ESU enters a generator mode responsive to a power outage state of a power sensor, during which mode unwinding of the spring drive powers the generator. After power is restored to the mains, a preferred embodiment automatically rewinds the spring using the generator as a motor.

Spring-powered emergency electrical supply

An improved electrical outlet access control accessory mounts in a wall to provide access to and concealment for an outlet mounted in aligned juxtaposition thereto. The accessory has a cover that can be manually rotated between closed and open positions, providing respectively concealment for or access to an outlet within. When closed the cover is flush or nearly so, with the surrounding wall. A retention mechanism holds the cover in the closed position until manually pressed inwards, after which the cover is rotatable to the open position.

A spring-loaded device conceals a recessed sprinkler head. Heat releases the spring and exposes the sprinkler head.

This invention provides a sign image by projecting light through a replaceable pivotable image forming apparatus onto an adjacent surface. The apparatus is contained within a telescoping tube of three locking sections with overlap indicators. The tube is pivotably mounted within a wall or ceiling. The pivotable tube and stencil permits projecting the sign image onto an adjacent inclined surface. The first section has a light source at its outer end and image forming apparatus which provides the sign message. The other two sections each contain a lens for respective image size and focus adjustment by changing the sections overlaps.

An improved retractable tamper resistant annunciator that can be mounted flush in a supporting structure is described. The annunciator mechanism includes a housing that has an actuatable cover. Signaling devices are enclosed within the housing, and can be selectively actuated when the cover is opened. A mechanism to open and close the cover to expose the signaling devices or to cover the signaling devices include a reversible motor structure. Alternative mechanisms to open and close the cover include biasing structures to move the cover in a first direction and an electrical device to move the cover in a second direction.

Retractable tamper resistant annunciator

An improved retractable tamper resistant annunciator that can be mounted flush in a supporting structure is described. The annunciator mechanism includes a housing that has an actuatable cover. Signaling devices are enclosed within the housing, and can be selectively actuated when the cover is opened. A mechanism to open and close the cover to expose the signaling devices or to cover the signaling devices include a reversible motor structure. Alternative mechanisms to open and close the cover include biasing structures to move the cover in a first direction and an electrical device to move the cover in a second direction

An emergency lighting system having a motor drive assembly (34) for the automatic lowering of a battery-powered emergency lamp (12), when normal power to a primary lighting system is lost, from a concealed position behind a ceiling (11), and returning the lamp (12) to its original position when normal power is restored. Included in the assembly (34) are gears including a motor driven gear (36) and a crank arm driving gear (38). The presence of a normal electric current to the primary lighting system powers the motor drive assembly (34) to return and maintain the emergency lighting system in its concealed position. Interruption of normal electric power automatically results in driving of the emergency power system from its concealed position to an extended position for use, as a result of crank driving gear (38) being rotated in a direction opposite that in which it is rotated for return of the emergency system to the normal concealed position. Resumption of normal electric current returns the emergency lighting system to its concealed position.
