An actuation system for a drive unit of a motor vehicle includes a control unit which is assigned to the drive unit and which has a function level, a function monitoring level, and having a power output stage for actuating the drive unit or actuators or sensors which are assigned to the drive unit. To relieve the function a data transmission device for outputting data to a data bus is arranged in the function monitoring level. The data transmission device can output a drive setpoint torque to the drive unit, to actuators or sensors which are assigned to it, or to a power output stage (') of a separate, second drive unit.

A method for operating an electric machine with a driver system is provided, in which an operating variable of the electric machine and/or of the driver system is monitored. The validity of the input variables is checked with regard to their checksum and whether the input variables are up-to-date, and the permissibility of an actual moment (Mist) of the electric machine depending on the operating state of the electric machine is checked. In case of invalid input variables or invalidity of the actual moment (Mist), a fault reaction is initiated. In addition, the implementability of the planned change of rotary speed is checked and, in case of non-implementability, changed over into a more favorable mode of operation of the electric machine. An electric machine used as a starter/generator in a motor vehicle can be monitored.

Process for driving an electric machine and driver system therefor

A drive system for an electrical machine is provided. The system includes a control unit and a monitoring unit, which is independent of the control unit. The control unit includes a device that converts one or more incoming operating parameters of the electrical machine to an output value. The monitoring unit includes a device that converts the operating parameters to a comparison value, with the conversion being carried out more quickly in the control unit than in the monitoring unit. A comparator compares the output value or an intermediate value of the output value with the comparison value of the output value or of the intermediate value.
