A method for protecting a vehicle occupant in a vehicle seat of a vehicle that includes at least one protection element arranged on the vehicle seat and that can be triggered in order to protect the vehicle occupant located on the vehicle seat is triggered in the event of an impending collision or in the event of a collision. A momentum (motion impulse) is exerted on the vehicle occupant or at least one body section of the vehicle occupant when the protection element is triggered. Due to the momentum the vehicle occupant or at least one body section of the vehicle occupant is moved away from a collision section of the vehicle that is colliding or will collide with the object. The intensity of the momentum is varied in relation to a determined accident severity and/or a determined accident type.

Method and device for protecting a vehicle occupant in a vehicle seat of a vehicle

In a method and apparatus for radio-based issuing of warnings of hazards to the driver of a vehicle having a data receiver, the data receiver receives data from at least one data transmitter of at least one other vehicle, and evaluates the received data. The received data comprising information about the position, speed and direction of travel of the transmitting vehicle. The approach speed between the receiving vehicle and transmitting vehicle are determined in order to evaluate the received data in the receiving vehicle. According to the invention, in order to evaluate the received data in the receiving vehicle, the distance between the transmitting vehicle and the receiving vehicle is determined, and it is determined whether information is output to the driver, based on the distance between the transmitting vehicle and receiving vehicle, and based on the approach speed between the transmitting vehicle and receiving vehicle.

Device and method for radio-based danger warning

A motor vehicle includes a pre-safe system, which contains at least one vehicle periphery detection device and a suspension and shock absorber unit. The suspension and shock absorber unit is arranged between a chassis and a vehicle body and can be activated as a function of signals that are detected by the vehicle periphery detection device and evaluated in a data evaluation device. The data evaluation unit of the vehicle periphery detection device is connected to a control device of an active chassis control system, which activates the suspension and shock absorber unit, to perform a vehicle level adjustment that is predefined for the respective impact situation.
