Method and apparatus for drying granular resin material by heating compressed air to a temperature prescribed for gas separation membrane operation, presenting the heated compressed air to a membrane separating out oxygen-size and smaller molecules to provide a stream of gas molecules of at least nitrogen-size at a pressure substantially that of the compressed air, heating the stream of gas molecules of at least nitrogen-size to a temperature at which dew point of the stream is no higher than &#x2212;40 degrees F., and introducing the heated stream of gas molecules into a chamber for upward flow to atmosphere through granular resin material in the chamber.

Method and apparatus for polymer drying using inert gas

Apparatus and method for drying thermoplastic resin prior to molding into plastic parts comprises a continuous loop liquid circuit for furnishing liquid at a prescribed temperature to a mold in which the plastic parts are fabricated; a continuous loop air circuit for passing heated dry air through a hopper containing the thermoplastic resin thereby drying the thermoplastic resin to a prescribed level of dryness; and a coupling thermally connecting the two circuits for heat transfer from the liquid to the drying air; the liquid is selected from the group comprising water and ethylene glycol; microprocessor control facilitates generation and retention of custom water temperature and resin dryness/temperature optionally based on machine learning principles.

In the locked position the power cord plug is held in place engaged with the mating power jack in. the housing of the power tool. In one embodiment a release member having a biasing element locks the retaining member in place until it is manually unlocked by the user thereby permitting the retaining member to be moved away from the power jack to permit removal of the plug from the power jack. Another alternative embodiment incorporates a retaining member which is biased into engagement with a release housing portion of the power tool housing.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a plurality of parts, such as spade-type boring bits, from a continuous stock material. Thus, the various steps of the forming method of the present invention can be performed to predetermined portions of the continuous stock material prior to separating the continuous stock material into discrete parts, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the forming process. The present invention also provides an improved forge for forming portions of the continuous stock material into parts having a predetermined shape. The forge can be designed to provide a clearance region proximate the forward end of the ram to permit slight flexing of the forward end of the ram in a radially outward direction during forging operations. The forge can also include a lubrication system for lubricating its various components. In addition, the forge can incrementally rotate the ram after one or more parts have been forged. By repeating the incremental rotation of the ram, the forge will eventually rotate the ram a full 360&deg;. An improved forging die is also provided which includes a back surface having a conical medial section and a pair of conical lateral sections that are recessed relative to the medial section such that forces will principally be applied to the medial section during forging operations.

An edge radius (540) between the rake face (524) and the clearance face (526) is at a radius of from about 0.0015 to about 0.004 inch. The edge radius 540 is formed during pressing of the powder to form the insert, thus, enabling the insert to be directly braised into the cutting head (506).

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a plurality of parts, such as spade-type boring bits, from a continuous stock material. The efficiency of the forming process is enhanced since individual parts need not be individually transported and oriented during the forming operations. By not requiring that the individual parts be separately transported and oriented during the forming operations, the quality of the parts formed by the forming method and apparatus of the present invention will also be enhanced since such separate transportation and orientation of individual parts generally increases the opportunities for misalignment and contributes to poor tolerance control during the manufacturing process.
