An end effector of a robotic surgery system that includes a fixed plate for attaching an end of a robotic arm, a shaft extending from the fixed plate, a sliding plate moveable relative to the fixed plate along an axial direction of the shaft, a hub assembly mounted to the sliding plate and operatively engaged with the shaft. The hub assembly includes an idler hub, and an inner bearing moveable relative to the idler hub and operatively engaged with the shaft, whereby rotation of the inner bearing moves the sliding plate along the axial direction of the shaft. The end effector further includes a pulley that includes a driven wheel connected to the inner bearing operatively engaged with a motor, whereby rotation of the driven wheel drives rotation of the inner bearing.

Dynamic feedback end effector

An end effector system for use in spinal surgery may be described herein. The end effector comprises a sterile section and a non-sterile section. The sterile section comprises an instrument holder that has pins for piercing a plastic sleeve. The instrument holder holds an instrument for performing spinal surgery. The non-sterile section comprises an end effector. The end effector comprises a motor and a transducer. The motor applies a torsional and axial force to the instrument. The transducer provides feedback to the end effector system to adjust a force applied to the instrument.

A method of interconnecting first and second longitudinal members extending along a spinal column of a patient includes inserting an access port into the body of the patient. A transverse connector is moved through the access port. A first end of the transverse connector is connected to the first longitudinal member. A second end of the transverse connector is connected to the second longitudinal member.

Adjustable back support device

A light-weight portable vertebrae decompression support device comprising a pair of arm rests with selectively adjustable members connecting the arm rests and a base member. The base member is adapted to rest on a seat. The selective adjustment raises and lowers the height of the arm rests with respect to the base. The support device provides arm support sufficient to decompress the vertebrae and aids persons recovering from back surgery or those with chronic back problems. The support device can be made adjustable to fit different girth persons.

A device and method for installing an anchor in a bone of a patient which employs an anchor body having expandable side walls in a tapered shape with retention members on their external surfaces, and an expansion member within the anchor body which is pulled to an engaged position. While in the engaged position the expansion member presses on the inside of the side walls to expand them outwardly to engage the retention members with the bone walls. The side walls have containment ring sections at their distal ends for retaining the expansion member inside the anchor body. The expansion member may be formed as a conical plug with a central aperture and tab recesses on its underside for insertion of an elongated scissors-type instrument with movable prongs that engage into the tab recesses of the expansion plug.

An adjustable body support device for applying supportive pressure to spaced areas of the human body comprising two elongated resilient foam-like cushions adjustably joined for adjusting the spacing between them. The cushions may be provided with covers having pockets for holding hot or cold packs.
